fire in the hole...

I posted something yesterday, but it seems to have dissapeared. sigh. My dad's law firm burned down Tuesday. It was quite a shock. You know they have enemies (what law firm doesn't) but I hadn't immagined to what extent. They are considering it arson at this point. It's been a shock to everyone. In addition to that, the summer temps have arrived in force, and we are approaching the 100's. This is when I'd like to move back to California....grin. Or at least visit the beach for the months of July and August. I like the 70's - 80's are survivable, but 90's and 100's are too much for me. I hide out in my house in my basement where it's cool.
Anyway, with the fire, there isn't going to be any hiding this week...

Summer Blues/burning buildings

Well...one can tell it's summer here in Utah. We are in the 90's all week, and will probably be 100 before the end of the week. I wish my air conditioner worked better...
At least our basement is relatively cool. We turned off the air conditioner this morning and turned on the attic fan...cooled us off better than the ac did. sigh. how I wish for a pool....
I've been so uninspired this past month. And then Monday my dad's law office burned down!! He has been there for almost 50 years, and the little strip of businesses all burned down in a apparently arson related blaze. My brother and sister are also attorneys with him, and so now we have quite the challenge on our hands - new building, continuing practice with no phone and no mail coming for over a week! I was shocked when the secretary told me they couldn't hook the phone's up until Monday. That's crazy. And then the mail won't be switched until 7 -10 days... You'd think they' would work faster for businesses, but I guess not. So, they are just kind of winging things until stuff is up and working. The hardest part is recovering files and files and files... We are talking an office that wasn't based on computers and didn't really have them until 5 or 6 years ago.
They had tons of stuff that was just paper - no back ups. That is one of the biggest challenges. Sure is a testimony of why to have current back ups on everything and not have everything on site!!!

Wow... really??

so - I didn't realize it has been that long since my last post.  I think I kind of gave up on it, knowing I don't have many follower...
