It's Friday and Conference Weekend!

And there is so much to do this weekend!  It's conference, it's fall and the leaves are changing, the weather is NICE and you can relax!!  I'm hoping we take a ride through the leaves on Sunday... It's my favorite thing about this time of the year...the colors of the leaves!! they are just breath taking. What is your favorite thing about fall?  Perhaps it's the time change coming up??  lol.  If only it weren't in November!!

Anyway - been a crazy week for some reason, but it's finally Friday and we can relax a little.  There was lots to list today, but cut it down a little.  I wanted fun things to commemorate!  A little heads up...did a few video clips - hope you enjoy.

Ask A Stupid Question Day - okay, we're told there's no such thing as a stupid question.  As a mom, I've heard lots of them that I would think fell in that category, but you know, you don't want to discourage curiosity, right?  I love this sketch by Studio C...  (speaking of which - their new season starts on Monday... just sayin', lol)

Hug A Vegetarian Day - They need all the hugs they can get...they're starving for affection, lol.  But I'm sure they would tell you that they are perfectly fine and healthy.  My brother has a shirt that says he's a vegetarian, he eats animals that eat vegetables... doesn't that count?  lol  Reminds me of the movie Nottinghill...

International Coffee Day - for those of you who enjoy coffee...it's your day!  Go get one of those macho frappuchino things that I hear about at Starbucks.  It's like You've Got Mail... 😊

Mutation Day (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) - Okay, those of you who grew up watching the turtles, my kids loved them.  I thought some of the movies were fun, they are silly characters anyway, but I loved the way they were portrayed in the more recent films.  I think the whole idea of mutation is what the group with Wolverine is about, but we'll go with the turtles...I like them. This is a clip from an elevator scene...  got to love the guys.  😊

National Biscotti Day - Who loves this cookie-ish thing??  I do!  They are the best with hot chocolate.  My wonderful brother once gave me a whole jar of them.  It was an awesome jar, that I've kept as a cookie jar.  Right now it's holding my kitchen utensils, but hey, it's a big jar.  I never did get the hang of making these myself though.  What are your favorite flavors?  I love the dark chocolate ones...  of course.

National Attend Your Grandchild's Birth Day - Interesting day.  Does that mean you're supposed to be at the hospital when they are born?  or Celebrate their birthday?  I'm not sure...but since I was privileged to be at 3 of my 4 grandchildren's births, I guess I satisfied that one, lol.  I don't know why our daughter wanted us there, but hey, we'll do what it takes to help delivery go better. Unfortunately, uh, kind of hard to fit them all in on one day, right?

Support Purple for Platelets Day - If you haven't donated platelets, you might consider it, they are very useful.  So is plasma...

Vegan Baking Day - hey, I guess it's a challenge to bake vegan.  They don't use milk, cheese or eggs, right?  If you're Vegan?  My understanding, anyway, is that a true vegan doesn't eat anything that comes from an animal.  So, I guess baking would be a challenge to use fat not from an animal and stuff like that.  Anyone like to try that?  I've tried gluten free baking, but haven't given the vegan baking a try yet...  My daughter brought home a almond croissant from work last night for me.  I don't think it's vegan...it's dang good.  Did I mention she works at Kneaders??  Sweet...

VFW Day - This is kind of a political point, but having just watched Wonder Woman again, the sacrifices our soldiers have given for us is fresh on my mind.  (I realize it is a fictional movie, but it reminds me of all the others...Hacksaw Ridge, Saving Private Ryan, Tora, Tora Tora... All battles that were fought on foreign soil by American soldiers.  Just sayin' - a day to thank them.)  If you haven't seen Hacksaw Ridge, it's amazing.  This guy was a real person, and he was a total hero...  They said it wasn't possible to put all the things he did in one movie because no one would believe it.  This is one of my favorite scenes from the movie...

Since that makes me feel a little maudlin, I want to end things on a cheery note.  First...go get you some Biscotti and hot chocolate, relax with a good book or a movie and be thankful we live in such a beautiful area and amazing country.  😊  I'm going to do it for my dad...he fought in WWII as a Ranger... Saving Private Ryan is basically about his unit...the 2nd battalion.  He would want you to enjoy the day.
I think that calls for a little Alex Boye...
or a little Piano Guys...

Have a great day and weekend!!

Wow... really??

so - I didn't realize it has been that long since my last post.  I think I kind of gave up on it, knowing I don't have many follower...
