Did you see the Blood/Blue Moon?

We sure didn't...it was too cloudy.  Kind of a bummer...my autistic son had really been hoping to see the red moon.  😊  I'm sure there will be lots of photos posted.

thought I'd share the thought for the day...
Inspire Your Heart with Art Day!!
There are discussions at my house every once in a while about the necessity of the arts in education.  (sports is a foregone conclusion, lol)  I've always been a supporter because art is my soul, but I can see where a non-creative person would think it's a waste of time.  I feel that art is purely a subjective thing to each person - what is art to one is bizarre pieces of metal to another.  I've been through my share of art galleries this past year, and let me tell you...I'm amazed at what counts as 'art'.
I'm a little bit of a traditionalist when it comes to the art form, but I try to be open minded.  I feel strongly, however, that art does inspire the heart and those who appreciate it.  Even if you don't understand what the artist is trying to portray or can't figure out what the image is supposed to represent, it still does something for you.  I think it inspires creativity in whatever form you like to create.  Be that writing, painting, building, remodeling, etc.  It enriches everyone and lightens the soul.
There's a scene in Last Holiday with Queen Latifa where she goes to a REAL fancy hotel in some European country and the ceiling in the foyer is an amazing combination of sculpture and art.  She looks up at the ceiling and sighs in amazement - then asks the clerk if she just wants to die when she looks at it.  The clerk has never taken the time to look and appreciate it before.  She's clueless.  It doesn't do any good to put a Monet in the classroom if the student's don't see it and know what it is.  Just saying.
now that we've had the serious side... here's a lighter side of art...

And National Hot Chocolate day!!   My kind of day.  I sooo enjoyed breakfast yesterday, leftover croissants and hot chocolate!!  Have you ever tried making it from scratch in the crock pot??  It's sooo creamy, a little thicker than I usually like it, but it grew on me.  We made some around Christmas time.  I might have to make some more today...  😊    Here are two recipes you can look at.  One is really rich, and one is much simpler.

Have a great Wednesday!

It's Friday!

It's Friday!!  We've survived the week...now we get to contemplate the weekend.  You do know the double moon thing is coming up, right?  I guess it's Monday... Blue moon and red moon.  I'm thinking I definitely won't be awake to see it...  it always happens at o'dark thirty...ugh.
Hope you have plans...I had plans for Saturday, and now they're going to include babysitting almost the whole day...which is good, right?  I love my grandchildren...it's just hard to get anything done while tending them.  I have to go back to the mantra I tried to remember as a young mother (and it didn't work too good then either...) It's more important to spend time with them than to have a clean house.  Right??
Sunday is a family dinner - which is always entertaining...so it's all good. Today I get to go do a trailer shop for the new Maze Runner movie.  I'm hoping it's better than Star Wars...  lol   Don't hate me!!

Anyway...some fun stuff to play around with if you want a reason for anything to do.  I'm afraid my family isn't as into the days as I am...my son didn't even ask what the plan was for dinner, he just brought Chinese home with him.  Not that I'm complaining too much...hey, I like Chinese food!  😊

So...
First off...for totally sarcasm...Dental Drill Appreciation Day.  Ugh!!  Apparently it was on this day that it was patented.  I guess it's better than the whole tooth pulling option, right?  It's just that I hate the sound of that thing!  Even when it's not being used on me! Anyone else like it???

Fun at Work Day - Well, I really like this idea.  We can totally have fun at work, right??  And to help...I'm posting the same movie that was shown at one my schools this morning for staff meeting.  Yes, I'm serious, staff meeting!!  Talk about having fun.  😊

Lotus 1-2-3 Day - this is for you geeks that remember this day when Lotus first introduced it's spreadsheet in 1983.  I hadn't even really learned about computers at that point...I'm not that excited about it... lol

National Big Wig Day - This is kind of two things...I've read that it's a day to put on a big wig in celebration of cancer survivors, and a day for everyone to feel important.  So...pick which one suits you and have a good one!!

National Peanut Brittle Day - one of the articles I read said that it was ironic for today to be both dental drill day and peanut brittle day.  Well, yeah, sugar and drills...go together, right?  lol   My hubby makes some pretty awesome peanut brittle.  I wasn't a big fan of it before I married him, and it's still not something that I am excited about, but when he makes it for Christmas, I usually eat some because I love peanuts and he always puts tons in it.  YUM   My mom loved it, so he still makes it in her honor.  😊

National Pre-school Fitness Day - I thought this was pretty funny.  I think I mentioned last year that it seems silly to think you have to promote physical fitness for preschoolers.  I know my kids didn't have any trouble moving around and being active!  They loved to play outside and climb things and swing and tumble.  They used to all wrestle with dad at the same time.  I have pictures of him being on the bottom of a seven kid pile.  Of course as they started to get bigger they couldn't all fit on top, lol.  I figured the preschool teachers would have fun with this.  I do remember putting on a record (yes, back before they died and came back, lol) and my three girls dancing around in the front room together.  I guess that was our fitness routine.  😊

National Pistachio Day - Yeah!  My father-in-law loved pistachios.  He would be way excited to help everyone celebrate the day.  We even have a small bag that I bought for Christmas and put aside and forgot was there until I uncovered them a week or so ago.  Good thing nuts don't go bad quickly...

National Green Juice Day -  Here's a recipe .   Green shakes are our favorite breakfast.  Well, I say 'our' as in my daughter and I.  I recently was doing some blood work and contemplating a metabolic approach to food, and both of them told me that I needed to avoid raw greens like kale and spinach.  WHAT???  😞  I have been really sad.  Our green shakes had both of them.  So...I'm trying to decide if it's worth it.   Just because something's green, doesn't mean it doesn't taste good.  I've had a lot of people tell me they couldn't imagine drinking it, lol.  Our green shakes have kale, spinach, carrots, apple, banana, protein powder (organic plant protein!) and frozen blueberries.  It is awesome.

Anyway ...Sunday is National Blueberry Pancakes day - don't miss out! We love blueberry pancakes, waffles, breakfast cake...what's not to love about blueberries??  What's your favorite way to eat them?

Well, hope you have an awesome weekend and get to do something fun today at work.  Listen to some crazy music that makes you dance.  You know that phrase...dance like no one is watching.   Here's a good song for that!

or there is also this one from the Peanuts movie...

Have a good one!

Diversity... it's everywhere

I find it interesting that we are so different from each other.  I have several co-workers that I feel are similar to myself, but they have such different tastes!!  Mainly in movies...  both of the two I've been talking with liked the Star Wars movie.  UGH!!  I couldn't believe it.  Really???  My hubby and I walked out of there thinking "LAME!"  honestly - both of us felt that way.

So - not only are we diverse in likes of movies, but in what we celebrate and how we spend our time.  I just wanted to state that someone who wants to go on about diversity, it's everywhere.  You just have to be looking for it.😏

National Irish Coffee Day - since I don't drink coffee, I guess I wouldn't appreciate this as much as those who do, but I do like mint flavored hot chocolate... does that count?  😊

Opposite Day - this reminds me of a story I read when I was a kid.  Two girls were best friends and their school had a day where they could be anyone they wanted to be, and when they showed up at each other's door, they were the other.  It was awesome.  😉  Wish I could remember the name of the story and where I read it.

Robert Burns Day - this is Mr. Burns birthday, and so they really go all out in Scotland. Apparently you are supposed to invite your friends over and eat everything Scottish. Personally, I'd skip the haggis, it takes a lot of specialty items - like the sheep stomach to start with.  😜  but it's really supposed to be tasty.  I read that they do pot pies in Scotland, so that would be an option for food.  😊  What I find disturbing though, is they don't have much by way of treats.  Shortbread or some type of fruit cake.  Lack of sugar?  I'm curious.  If anyone knows, I'd love the information.

Thank Your Mentor Day - There are a lot of people who have mentors out there who make a great difference in the lives of those they mentor.  I'm still trying to find a mentor after taking a self reliance class.  sigh.  The person I asked never replied.  I guess that's a no...  Hope you have better luck finding one than I did.

And just to keep things lively, here's one of my favorite video clips.  If you haven't seen it before, it's sooo much fun.  Have a great day!

Happy day of pie!

And no, I'm talking about the numerical on in March...  we're celebrating the actual desert round dish that is filled from anything fruit to custard and is yummy in a crust or not.  That's right, National Pie Day! Everyone is supposed to be having a special, but I've only heard of a couple...Village Inn has free pie Wednesday, but today is supposed to be $2 off a slice?  something like that...  and Marie Calendars is doing a pie sale for the month or something for $8.99.  I'm afraid that just kills me...  $9 for a pie???  Anyway - I'm sure you can find an edible one at the local marketplace and enjoy with your family.  Or...Wally world (our families name for WalMart...) has little individual pies that you don't need to share...and they're only $1 each!

My personal favorite is Razzleberry from Marie C's... but I also love blackberry (discovered while living in Oregon...YUM) and blueberry...and anytime pumpkin!!  And I do love crust...a well made crust is almost more flavorful than the filling, lol.  What's your choice when eating pie?
National Handwriting Day - Did you know that there is a large percentage of schools that no longer encourage learning the skill of handwriting??  It seems sad to me..handwriting is a personality spot.  I remember in junior high seeing girls practicing their signatures in different little ways to make their writing unique.  Little hearts above the I...curly cues on the Y and J...  Remember doing that?  I (personally) do not like the capitol G.  UGH.  It has to be the most un-interesting letter to write in cursive.  I know handwriting is not necessarily cursive, but it's along the same lines to me.  There are many times I wish my name started with a an S or a J.  A's aren't bad either...  Some of you may know that I write calligraphy.  I learned it in high school, and have continued with it.  None of my children do it, and most of them do not have legible handwriting.  It's terrible.  I don't even have doctors to show for it.

Snowplow Mailbox Hockey Day - Well, not much of a chance of that today, but I would imagine back east they'll have this going on.  I would think that the mailboxes get buried when the plows are handling that much snow.  How do people dig them out to get mail??  And how does the mail get delivered??  Such a dilemma for those of us who still love to get mail....  Do you like getting mail?  I guess most people don't like mail because it usually consists of credit card adds, store adds and various stupid catalogues.  But once in a while, you get cards, letters, packages...  fun stuff.  :)   If you are familiar with mailbox hockey, hope you haven't had to replace it too many times.  We usually have more of the Halloween obnoxiousness where kids like to drive by and hit the mailboxes with a bat...
I like the Harry Potter idea... Who needs mailboxes??

Have a great day - no matter what you celebrate, it's a great day to be alive.😊

Happy Frozen Monday :)

At least it's dang cold here - and it might not even be that cold, but it's been warm the past week, so today seems even colder than it probably is. I feel bad for complaining, we haven't had the arctic cold that the east coast has...  we've had a very mild winter so far.  We're all hoping it gets more wintery as we go, we need the water!!
It's pretty bad though, when you open the door to the garage to talk to your daughter and can see your breath!!  ⛄

Today we don't have much to have fun with - in fact there was only one thing at Brownielocks that I thought was worth mentioning...

Today is Answer Your Cat's Questions Day!  Did you know your cat had questions??  Of course they do!  You've seen the diary of a cat video, right?  It's hilarious.  Here it is just in case you haven't seen it...  :)

Anyway - they want to know why they aren't the center of your universe and why you aren't feeding them on china and always moist cat food, lol.  Our cats want to know why we won't let them in the house...but then, that's another post.

Today is also National Blonde Brownie day - which I know some of you have been anticipating with bated breath, lol.  Some of us don't particularly like blonde brownies, but lots do, so enjoy.  Make up a batch and share - cause that's the most fun part about it.

We had a great weekend watching grandkids and not getting much else done...my daughter was actually able to get her car started this morning, but then she had a flat tire...  so, still not working, sigh.  If it's not one thing, it's another.

Well, have an awesome day - you deserve it!

happy Friday!

It's Friday!  That means the next day is Saturday, and we get to do all the things we didn't do during the week...including sleeping in, of course - but it also means cleaning house, babysitting and grocery shopping.  Why do we look forward to Friday again?  lol

Bean Day - I think it depends on who you talk to.  Normally this is on the 6th of January, so I don't know why she (brownielocks) posted it on the 19th.  If you like beans in any form, here ya go. Another day was November in 2017 - but that was being promoted by a brewery... lol.  I think many kidos would say Jelly beans were the order of the day...  so anyway - you can look it up and see what you find.  I thought it might have something to do with new years... didn't they have a tradition somewhere that a cake was baked with different items in it and your luck for the coming year was predicted by the item you got?  I thought a bean was in there somewhere...

International Fetish Day - I'll let you look this up and see what you can find.  Anything I clicked on was blocked - which makes me slightly curious, but very wary as to what they're about.  I thought it was just about people with a fetish.  Perhaps I'm naive, (yes, I am) but isn't that what a fetish is?  something that's your personality quirk - we talk about people having a fetish for a certain dish, or item.  So...  whatever it means - have fun.  :)

Popcorn Day - Everybody likes popcorn!!  It's almost as popular as ice cream.  Actually, when you think about it, I think it's more popular.  There are actually people that don't like ice cream, but will eat popcorn.  Who can resist?  It's the perfect snack.  It fits in your hand, it can be flavored sweet or savory, and it's good warm or cold.  YUM.  Go make some now and share!!  (just don't burn it in the microwave...)

Robert E. Lee Day - So this is the revered man's bday.  I'm thinking this might actually not be socially acceptable at this point in time, since there's all the hullabaloo about the southern flag and all that...  Mr. Lee (to quote the HISTORY site) was the probably the least successful military leader and the most revered in the world.  I leave that to the historians to fight out...

Tin Can Day - on this day in 1825 the tin can was invented!  Amazing it's been around that long.  It revolutionized the way food was stored and sold.  Can you believe it?  Less damage, etc.  It has come a long way since then.  Most cans today are made with less tin and are lighter.    You didn't think you'd get history lectures today, did ya?  lol  Well...I thought it was interesting, anyway.

And, since I won't be sending out any type of email on Sunday...just a note - it's National Hugging day!  so be sure and get all your hugs in. 😎

Since it's Friday, and I can't leave you without something to watch, lol...  Here's our favorite principal with science fair suggestions...  I noticed there were a couple of my schools having science fair judging yesterday.  This would have been good.... lol

and last, to help you have a good laugh to start the day - my children introduced me to this comedian.  He's clean in this one, and some of his other videos, but he does tend to have language - just forwarned if you go look him up.  Anyone who is a parent will totally love this:

Have a great weekend!  Hope it snows!

It's Thursday...do you know what happened to your week?

It went by so fast!!  At least mine did.  I know I had Monday and Tuesday off, but now all of a sudden it's Thursday and I'm realizing that I haven't gotten a lot of stuff done that needed to be addressed.  sigh.  and there's a longggg time till my next break at work.  I might have to take an afternoon off...  :)

Pooh (Winnie The) Day - Yeah for Winnie the Pooh!  Apparently there is a movie out now about the man who wrote the book series and what effect it had on his family.  I just know that my mom thought they were wonderful children's books and all of us were familiar with them way before it was popular to like them.
There's a movie at the local theater called Goodbye Christopher Robin that is supposed to be based on the life and reality of the author and stories...  I'm not sure I want to see it, it looks a little sad...

Thesaurus Day - those who are writers are very fond of the thesaurus.  It has helped me come up with a word many times when I've been stumped.  It's great for poetry too.  Be a good day to go look something up, lol.  Of course the real reason for celebrating is that it's the birthday of Peter Mark Roget, the man who came up with the first thesaurus. What a brain!!

Pekin Duck Day - if you've ever seen the movie A Christmas Story, you've seen this dish.  They served it in the restaurant his family went to when the turkey got eaten by the neighbors dogs.

Apparently it's awesome - but I've never had it.  I think I've had duck, but having grown up with ducks in the back yard, I have a hard time thinking they'll taste good.  😊  Have you had it?  Apparently it's sliced, put in a crepe with scallions and then drizzled with Hoisin sause and rolled up.  I guess it's another way of having a duck roll, lol.  The Nibble - which is the site I get most my food holidays from - says you can buy ready cooked duck.  I don't think that's as easy to come by out here, unless you know a chinese market....

Well, hope you have an awesome day.  :)   I plan on it.

Friday, January 12, 2018

It's Friday... wait, didn't I already say that??

Man this was a strange week.  I wouldn't say it went fast, but it certainly didn't take it's time.  I tried to find something to do a post about, but nothing was very inspiring, so it's been a quiet week from me.  I'm sure you've had plenty of other things to entertain you.  Right?  Like politics?  ugh...no.  Books!!  Books are good.  :)

Anyway -  we've gone from having five running vehicles in our family to four - and one of those switched out. Yesterday our new (extremely relative term here) spare cars check engine light went on, and the battery in my car died.  sigh.  Nothing like having to spend a hundred on a new one.  Can you believe the cost of car batteries???  I remember when $60 was a lot!!  sigh.  At least it didn't panic us, lol.  My daughter is still trying to find a replacement for her truck that died before Christmas, and my other daughter's car died last week, so we've been shifting cars between the two of them.  Good thing their schedules don't conflict most of the time.  And good thing younger son commutes with dad (which he just LOVES...not.lol ) and doesn't need the spare car.  He likes to think it's his, but he hasn't paid for it yet.

I probably didn't mention that we had to take our dog to the vet last Friday...he hurt his neck somehow.  He's a small dog...a chiwawa mix of somekind.  He's getting better, but he sure loved eating scrambled eggs and rice for a couple of days.  :)  And convincing him to wait to be carried up and down the stairs doesn't go over very well...  :-/

Got moved into our new offices at work, which has been kind of nice.  We were homeless for little over a week, having to hang out more in schools - which on one hand wasn't a big deal, but on the other hand, it's nice to have a home base again.  Our new office is in a small building with a small staff, and they are very sweet and happy to have us.  It's awesome.  ;)

Well... I didn't do a blog just about milk, but yesterday was national Milk day.  If you're a milk lover you would probably have rejoiced. Thing is, milk is tending to get a bad rap (like most things now a days) and so a majority of people don't drink it.  I personally don't really drink milk except when having the rare Oreo cookie...  :)  But I use it to cook with, and love greek yogurt.

Today there isn't a lot, just a couple of things.  But before I get into the silliness of life, I wanted to touch on one somber thing:  Today is President Monson's funeral.  It will be televised in Utah...and watched by thousands.  He was another man among many - one that was there most of my life.  He was an amazing example to all of how to be truly Christlike.  I will miss him greatly.
I'm so happy that he's with his beloved wife again and his savior.
There could not be a more happier time.

sigh...  okay, I guess it's time to move on.

Kiss A Ginger Day (Red Heads) - know any red heads?  I work with one!!  I want to make sure she hears about this, lol.  You know it's good luck to kiss one, right? You know it's good luck to kiss one, right?  Um... I don't know any red headed men...and I think it's good enough luck to kiss my hubby.
via GIPHY

I think red hair is so gorgeous.  there was a little girl walking in a school yesterday in front of me with the most lovely head of auburn/red hair...it just glistened in the light.  She probably hates it...  sigh.

National Hot Tea Day - I love herbal tea.  I don't know if any of you are tea drinkers, but a nice warm cup of herbal tea is lovely on a cold day.  I have grown fond of mint, but there are lots of other nice flavors too.  Some people really like the green tea stuff - enjoy!!

I also love bagels, and so just for grins I thought I'd include this easy recipe for homemade ones.
And because you can relate to our favorite principal, here's his latest video on communication...lol

and because you know I have to put in Studio C...here's a school fashion thought, lol

And lastly, because it's Friday, and we need something to help rev up for the LONG WEEKEND!!  Yeah, you read that right.  Remember, we all get Monday to play!!  So...you need some inspiration...
one of my favorite scenes from the original Footloose.  Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!

I know we've talked about this before, but it's crazy how a short work week seems just as long or longer than a regular week.  go figure!!  But, you made it, Friday's here, and it's all good!  There isn't much silly or funny to mention today.  It is national Whipped Cream day...which is ALWAYS a good thing to celebrate.  It goes on just about anything, right?  oreos...ice cream...fudge...pie.  Banana splits...  😊  my mouth is watering.
Well, hope you have an awesome day and a great weekend.  We might even get some weather tomorrow!  I'm hoping snow, but rain in the valleys works.  My cousin who was visiting after Christmas told me that when they drove through Tahoe, there was NO SNOW.  😞  I don't think I've ever heard of that.  So, we all need moisture.  I'm sure those back east would be willing to share...  Oh my.
Had to leave something for you to start the weekend though...a little Studio C for you Netflix fans...

And a little Alex Boye...

Have a good one!

It's Wednesday...really?

It's Wednesday!  That means we are half way through the week, and the end is in sight.  😊  It's kind of sad when we're already looking forward to Martin Luther King Jr Day... lol   But, I'm working on it.

There were just a couple of fun celebrations for the day, and I didn't want you to miss out on them.

To start it off, we have
Drinking Straw Day - Did you know that the idea of a straw has been around since the 1800's?  I had no idea.  According to one site, the Sumerians used a 'straw' to drink beer because there was all sorts of things floating around in the glass that they wanted to avoid.  The man that's credited with the modern straw was Marvin C Stone.  This was the day he received the patent for his straw, and that's why it has it's own day.  The reason he created a straw was because the reeds they used would leave stuff at the bottom of the drink.  Need is always the mother of invention.  There have been many adaptations since then...  I think most of you are familiar with Krazy Straws, and the Slurpee straw.  Fun stuff!  Plastic has taken over the paper straw, but apparently that's an issue with pollution in the ocean - go figure.  So, if you can afford it, try the paper straw, or reusable straws. I found these on Amazon.  I had no idea you could even order them!  https://www.amazon.com/Webake-Biodegradable-Birthdays-Weddings-Celebrations/dp/B01M995I1D/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_79_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=NX3H5JEV9KVBY2NFQWMP

Earth at Perihelion - For those of you who don't know (which was ME) this means the earth is the closest to the sun.  That means right now we're closer than at any other time of the year.  I guess it's good for solar, but doesn't make much difference in any other way.  I found this tidbit on a scientific site..."Perihelion always occurs near January 4th, while aphelion lands near the 4th of July."  Now you've increased your vocabulary for the day!  Impress your friends and family...  "My, what a chilly perihelion it is today!"  lol

J.R.R. Tolkien Day - On this day, the man that wrote the Hobbit was born in 1892.  Crazy that it's been that long ago - and that his book series has launched a film industry that amazes all.  If you haven't read the books that spawned the movies, you really need to -- he's awesome.  It's my understanding that he even created the languages his characters used.  Amazing imagination.

This is one of my favorite scenes from the movies:
and of course this one...  lol

and last...National Chocolate Covered Cherry Day - If you like these (and I think it's either you do or don't, not much in between;  I hate them, ugh!) then it's your day!  I used to buy a box for my hubby every year for Christmas, and we were happy they started making them with dark chocolate.  But he's gotten to where he just can't eat lots of sugary stuff, and so didn't buy them this year.  I don't think he's missed them, lol.

Welcome to the future...

My son commented the other day that he thought he'd be a cyborg at this point.  He was teasing his brothers about Terminator - and I reminded myself again that we live in the days of science fiction.  We're not far from the year in Back to the Future when he goes to save his kids.  I grew up thinking anything past  2000 was amazing futuristic stuff.

When you think about it, we are in an amazing time.  We have cell phones that can talk to anyone pretty much on the planet.  We have televisions the size of windows, and they are flat against the wall!  You can skype, facetime, or converse face to face with people all over the world, though we aren't quite to the visual phone yet - darn close.  We have watch phones (like  007) and electric cars that are getting better all the time, and solar houses and wind farms.  Just to think about the changes in my lifetime are amazing.  😵  Let alone what has happened since our grandparents time.  Several of them had horse and buggy lives...

So - welcome 2018 with excitement.  Things are going to get even more crazy. 😎

Hope you had a great Christmas.  We sure did.  It was short...crazy and full of family.  Isn't that what the holidays are all about?  I was fortunate to have my cousin and her husband here for about 4 days.  It was awesome - I don't think I've talked so much in ages.  We just have so much to share, and enjoy about life together.

Yesterday we went to a movie as a family.  We usually do that on the day after Christmas, but we weren't as on the ball as we normally are, and didn't get tickets before they were sold out.  This time we were smarter and got the tickets on Friday.  It was a good thing, it was sold out by the time we got there yesterday.
We went to see Jumanji.  If you saw the first one, you might have wondered how they were going to pull this one off, but it was awesome.  They really did a good job.  Only complaint we had was the outdoors bathroom issue...  sigh.  It wasn't necessary people - honestly.  I really liked how they ended it.

We also took the granddaughters to see Ferdinand.  Oh my that was cute!!  Very well done!  My one granddaughter had already seen it, and she still wanted to see it again.  I take that as a good sign.  I'm thinking I need to get the book for them now!  This was such a cute movie!  If you haven't seen it yet, you really need to.

So... that's been my past week.  We went to Park City for a day and that was way fun.  My cousin had never been there, and while it was a bit busy, it wasn't insane, so it was nice.  We had lunch and window shopped and it was fun.  I haven't done that for a while.  I'm so glad my hubby gets along with my family!!  I tell you, he's awesome.

There are a couple of fun things to know about the day...if you need something to lift your spirits after the holidays as we head into this new year which is cold and low on the snow side (dang it!).

Happy Mew Year for Cats Day - I don't know why they can't celebrate the same new years as humans, but ya know - cats have their own agenda, and I guess someone decided this was theirs.  lol  If you like cats, have fun with it.  If you don't - well, ignore it.  They would.  😸

National Buffet Day - apparently this is the feasting before the dieting begins.  If you are a true resolution person, that would have started yesterday, right?  We used to love buffets.  When you have teenagers that are bottomless pits, it's the cheapest way to fill them up.  Now we find that we just don't eat enough to make it worth it.  And...most of them are not that yummy.  What are your thoughts on that?  Which is your favorite buffet?  Vegas used to have some awesome priced ones...but not much anymore.

National Motivation and Inspiration Day - I think that most people find that January is a dreary month.  Christmas and the holidays are over, no more parties, and depending on where you live, usually kind of gray and cold.  Everyone can use some inspiration and motivation.  Hopefully you have one.  If not - here's an option or two...

Got to love the kitten ones...

And of course... big pink!

But you really need this one:
right??

No - what I think everyone needs is this:

What's your favorite thing that motivates you?

National Personal Trainer Awareness Day - of course we have this day...  when entering a diet phase, there is always the personal trainer phase.  I think personal trainers are great.  I also think they are basically physical therapists in their other lives.  Or Physical therapists are personal trainers on the side?  Hm...   I've done the personal trainer bit - and it really worked for a while.  Then she quit to have a baby, and I guess I quit because I was stuck in a plateau.  sigh.  What helps you move?
Have you seen the journal entry joke about the personal trainer gift a daughter gives her mom?  It's hilarious...  Here's a link

National Science Fiction Day -  I think I've already covered this one.  We are living in science fiction, folks!  I'm tellin ya! Just think of Back to the Future and how it looks in Marty's house - dehydrated pizza...ugh - but we do have freeze driers in our homes now!  (well, you could)  and hover boards...they claim to be working on those.  Auto dry coats?  Now that would be cool!!

National Cream Puff Day - One of my favorite things in the world!!  Who doesn't love cream puffs??  Well, enjoy - everyone starts the diet tomorrow, right?  (not me, folks...just trying to eat better.)

Well, hopefully you've found something to make you smile.  I hope you have a great day!

Wow... really??

so - I didn't realize it has been that long since my last post.  I think I kind of gave up on it, knowing I don't have many follower...
