ah... the joys of summer?

So - my first week of summer vacay and it's been crazy.  My poor hubby ended up in the ER Sunday night with a kidney stone...  hope to not relive that anytime soon...

and then Monday we took the grandkids to the free day at the Natural History Museum.  As a whole...it was okay, but the melt downs that resulted that night were not fun.  We can't figure it out... guess they don't want days away from day care with grandma and grandpa?  The museum was way cool...  I think my other kids would enjoy it as well...
Since I didn't sleep well Sunday night, and then not much better Monday, Tuesday was a sleep in day, and din't get much accomplished.  sigh.
Yesterday helped my hubby put up a cool arch at a school for a retirement party.

He's getting really good at these!!  Everyone was very impressed, I think he handed out at least a dozen cards.  I went to Michaels and stocked up on some supplies for paint parties..  Looking forward to a summer of painting fun!!

And now to take a deep breath and try to get some work done on my home and my daughter's house.  We actually turned on the AC yesterday... first time we kind of wanted it.  It's been a real mild June, which is nice.
And just in case you're thinking of something to do....today is Drive in Movie Day.  We used to do those a LOT when our kids were little.  We've always been movie fiends, and any chance to see a movie for a good price was something we jumped at.  There was only one nearby, and I say nearby loosely...  it was a good 20 minute drive.  They have one up in Ogden now, but it's a gravel pit and not too much fun with little kids.  They also don't charge by car anymore... it's by person, so not as great of a deal as it used to be.
And of course... today is D day.  My dad was there on D-day...  he was in the 2nd Ranger bltln.  The one they talk about in Saving Private Ryan.  He did some amazing things on the beach, earned himself a medal...  I'm just thankful one of those many graves over there isn't his.
Thanks for serving, dad.  I'll never forget...

And if you need something food wise... it's Applesause Cake Day.  YUM!!  so...bake some up, curl up and watch Saving Private Ryan with lots of tissue.

Have a great day!

Wow... really??

so - I didn't realize it has been that long since my last post.  I think I kind of gave up on it, knowing I don't have many follower...
