And at last...it's Friday!

For some reason, this has been the LONGEST week...and yet the shortest at the same time.  I'm not sure if it was just lets get this month over with! or just that I had so much going on at home that it seemed insane all around.  sigh.  Between helping my son and wife move out of their rental into OUR house, and prepping our house for them to stay there short term...and his birthday (which was kind of overlooked due to that was the day they actually moved....) and yesterday finding out that my doctor thinks I have Ilio T Band Syndrome... (really???  WHY?  ugh.) and now we have yet the house to get put back in order because my son brought 2 sets of couches with him and we already have 2 sets, lol.  Storage is an option, I guess, but we hate the idea of paying someone else to hold our stuff.  So I think we're clearing out the old couches in the front room and making way for newer ones in the future... I'm liking that idea.  :)  It's still wrong to have 9 people in the house again...it's supposed to be subtraction, not addition!  good thing I love my kids...though they don't think so right now - they are 24 hours from being kicked out if they don't have solid plans on future movement by the end of the day.  I'm sure a few of them are thinking they're ok, and a couple of them really are (they've actually talked to us) but in general...sigh.  I just love having adult children!!!  (NOT)

anyway - I wanted to post this lovely grainy photo...lol  The mountains were sooo gorgeous yesterday, and this is the best I was able to get.  My son sent me an awesome one too, but I can't seem to get it off my phone.  :-/

SO - onto the day!!

International Dance Day - Yeah!  I had to post Sandra Boynton's tweet for the day...she always cracks me up.  :)
Once more we can get up and boogie and everyone can join in.   Here's another fun one to dance and groan to...

(I think everyone has seen some elementary kids dress this way...)

National Hairball Awareness Day - I don't know why this needs to be a day...isn't everyone aware of hairballs when their cats toss them up???  hmm

National Teach Your Children To Save Day - good luck with that.  If you are able to get them to actually do that, you'll be one up on me.  Out of 7 children, only 2 actively save....sigh.

World Wish Day - I guess if we could all have one wish today, this would be the day, huh?  I don't know who comes up with these, I find them at brownielocks.com...but still.  I guess we should pretend everyone had a fairy godmother
today and could have our wishes granted...what would you wish for??  World Peace?  More money?  Happier life?  I'm afraid I'd probably wish to be skinny, but I guess that's not the point of overcoming something...I wouldn't learn from it.  sigh.  so then I'd wish my hubby and I could celebrate our anniversary somewhere we've never been before.  That's always a possibility, right?  😊

Zipper Day - yes...the day of the zipper!!  Can you imagine what life would be like without having a zipper??  from shoes to pants to shirts, jackets, bags, you name it!  Crazy how that invention took over the world.  This site has a great little blurb on them...

so, that's all for now.  Hope you have an awesome day, and great weekend!!

Food, Rain and happiness...

Okay - so I don't know of any songs that go on about Tuesday, do you?  I mean there's lots of songs about Monday...I think I've heard about Wednesday...everyone LOVES Friday - but Tuesday is left out a lot...so in honor of the day - which is National Pretzel Day!!
I suggest everyone enjoy a nice thick chewy pretzel!   I think I'll have to go home and make some...without the salt...ugh!!  My hubby laughs whenever I'm eating pretzels because I'm always rolling the salt off...
As you can tell...this photo is from Crouton cracker jacks...and they look awesome!!

Here's a couple of recipes for you to enjoy...  http://www.buzzfeed.com/mathewguiver/soft-pretzel-recipes-for-national-pretzel-day?utm_term=.eiXR5AAJ2&sub=3759768_5562161#.niqD1BBLE

I have to say that I am thankful for my general outlook on life.  I realize that this might make something punch me in the face or knock me for a loop -  life does that a LOT - but I still am generally happy!  I love my hubby and am quite content most of the time.  When I hear about those that suffer from depression, or anxiety or other illnesses, it is something that is so SAD to me!  :(   I don't understand how it happens...and I hope that I never make anyone feel less or stupid or whatever because of my lack of understanding.  I realize that much of it is due to brain chemistry...we are all simply wired the way we are.  Sometimes it can be managed with medication, sometimes not.  For those of you who suffer with something that makes it difficult to be around others or to enjoy life, I'm so sorry.  If you ever need a smile or someone to lean on, I'm here.  Just give me a call or drop by and I'm there for you.

I'll make you a pretzel.  :)

hope you have an awesome day and enjoy the rain!!  Those May showers better be awesome, right?

Monday Monday....

la la, la la la la la, na na, (sing with me now...)... little nostalgia for all of you who remember this song...1967!!   lol

Well..  I hope everyone had an excellent weekend!  We had a partially productive one - discovered that the hallway bathroom faucet has been leaking into the cabinet and we had to throw it out and get a new one...which involves tile and stuff.  nothing trivial, lol.  And we're trying to make the room downstairs ready for my son and wife to move in (for a SHORT time) so, nothing stressful going on this week.  You??  Hope it's going to be an awesome one!  Today just a couple of things...

Eeyore's Birthday Day - This would be one of my moms favorite days - she was a big Winney the Pooh fan before it was popular.  I remember my sister commenting on how everyone was suddenly into the winney the pooh books after she was married and she'd say, "What's the big deal? I've known about these since I was a kid!"  We all knew the stories of Christopher Robin...all of us have our favorite character.  Winnie the Pooh is mine.

International Marconi Day - Well...if you like radio, then today is the day to celebrate the birth of it's inventor.  Guglielmo Marconi, was born on April 25, 1874. There's a bit of controversy as to if he was really the inventor of radio...you decide, lol.

World Penguin Day - and for those of you who love the little strange non winged birds, here's your day.   I like the Alex Boye video of Happy he did at the Aquarium, and the little penguins waddling around...  so I'm posting it here for your enjoyment.

And...just to do a shout out...Alex Boye is doing small town concerts for Utah, because he loves us!  lol  And so, WEDNESDAY he is doing a concert at Davis High!!  I'm sooo stoked!  Anyway - if you want tickets, here's the place     http://www.ticketor.com/alexboye/

It's Friday!!!

There is quite a few things because I wanted to let you know about tomorrow too, with all the fun stuff going on.  Brownielocks has a few things that I wanted to highlight...click on her link if you want to see all of them...  :)

Today!!
Earth Day - just a reminder that we are happy to be living on this earth, right?  And that we should be kind and do what we can.  I'm not an extremist, but I do think recycling is good, and wasting is bad, lol.

Mother Earth Day - as opposed to just earth day??  LOL

National Jelly Bean Day -
Okay!!  everyone who likes jelly beans, step up and celebrate.  Personally, I really like the starburst ones...

Passover - Okay, just a thought - I always thought passover was before Easter...how can they be at separate times??

Tomorrow -
National Dance Day - everyone get on your boogie!!  It's time to dance!  And, in honor of he who died yesterday...formerly known as Prince...party like it's 1999...just because you can and we are all party animals.  This should get you going...

Movie Theatre Day - love this one...got to go see a movie.  Kaysville Theater is showing some good ones right now...have you seen Kung Fu Panda 3 yet??  It's really fun.  😊 And Eddie the Eagle is awesome...  Race looks interesting, and there's always the latest Star Wars installment...  sigh.
http://thekaysvilletheater.com/
thekaysvilletheater.com
Kaysville Theatre, Utah, showing today's movies for great prices. Theatre rental also available.

Talk Like Shakespeare Day - this is really the one I wanted to let you know about.  I think it would be hilarious to go around talking to your family like this.  It's almost as fun as talk like a pirate day.  "Fair morning my offspring.  Hasteneth to the table for meat.  But halt - thy face is quite the home for pigs, dost thou not know where thy washcloth is located?  Hasten and discover it lest thou be mistaken for a common urchin."   oh yeah...fun with that one.  Takes a little more brain power, lol.

Have a great one!!

Food thoughts and She wants it!

Hi everyone!  What a busy week...and it's almost over!  wow.  And you thought April would take forever, didn't you??  Well...I admit, I did.

Anyway - didn't have a chance yesterday, or I would have mentioned that it was  National Cheddar Fries Day!  Got to be one of my favorites.

Today there is only a couple of things that I thought were worth mentioning from Brownielocks site:

Bulldogs are Beautiful Day - which my daughter would totally agree with.  She has one...and it's a silly dog.  It has bit my little dog, but I have to say my little dog was egging her on...sigh.  they aren't all bad...

High Five Day - give everyone a high five that you meet today!  It's a way to put a smile on everyone's face.

Kindergarten Day - I'm not sure why they would say today is Kindergarten day...wouldn't that be in the fall when kids started??

And last...one of my very favorites!!!  National Chocolate-Covered Cashews Day - oh boy, I think cashews are one of my favorite nuts.  This has got to be the best way to eat them, lol.  Other than with chicken in a stir fry...

Okay....so - I have to share the most exciting news I think I've ever had in relation to my writing....  An agent wants to see one of my books!!!  Oh my...it's soooo exciting, and I'm so nervous...and what if she doesn't like it after she looks at it???  And it's a national agent, so ...the book is basically LDS...is she going to hate it for that??  OR will she like it because it's not preachy??  sigh.  I've never had anyone request a novel before, so this is like the biggest thing ever!!!

ARGH!  Okay...I can do this...

everyone wish me luck!!!

30 years!!

Believe it or not...30 years ago my wonderful hubby asked me to marry him.  :)  It's hard to believe....the years have gone by sooo fast!!  And now it's 7 kids and 3 grandkids later...  who knew?

So...in preparation for the big question, he asked me what my favorite food was.  I said PIZZA!  lol.  See...I haven't changed that much, right?  anyway - he says he should have asked me what type of food I liked, like Italian, Chinese, etc...  so, he ended up taking me to Godfather's pizza in Trolley Square.  It was awesome.  I told everyone we met that I'd just gotten engaged.  So...since we are both sentimental...he found the lone Godfather's Pizza restaurant that is left in Utah, and brought it home for dinner last night.

Those are his hands in the photo...he wouldn't let me take one of his face...lol.  anyway - I am such a lucky girl.  I'd say yes again in a heartbeat.  YES!!  (although he claims I never did say anything, just hugged him, lol)

I don't remember the photo on the box before, but it has been 30 years, lol.  They have gradually faded out in this state...I was glad there was at least one left close enough.  It tasted good...not the best like it was, but still good.  :)

He also bought me 30 balloons!!  It was so amazing to watch him pull them all in from the car.  I can't believe they fit!  :)

I love balloons.  :)

Snow!!

Okay - I know it's April, and it's supposed to be spring...and for the most part it is!  I mean, my tulips are blooming all over!

But when I got to work this morning...

Oh well...got to love the water...will totally want it by June.  :)

I have this cool flower blooming in my flower bed...I think it's a poppy.  Any ideas?

 Well...onto the stuff.  First...
McDonald's Day - don't know why, didn't have time to look it up, I would imagine it's the founders bday, or the day a first one opened, who knows.  But if you like they're food...go celebrate with them!  lol  My hubby would rather have a root canal...just sayin'.

National Day of Silence - if I were going to celebrate this one I definitely would need a piece of tape over my mouth.  If it's in all forms, we'd be in trouble...lol.

Rubber Eraser Day - I don't think I want to know what other kind of erasers there are...but since pencils exist, I'm SOO thankful that erasers exist.  😉

Take a Wild Guess Day - Now here's another one I can fully get behind.  I love this!!  I'm afraid it's kind of the sarcastic side of me...because that's usually what I say to my children when they ask me a question that they should already know the answer to...lol  How about you?

That Sucks Day-  There should be more than one of these during the year, but at least there's one.  Now you can tell you kids with feeling..."man, that sucks.  And do you know what?  Today is your day, because today is 'that sucks day!'"  Okay - I guess a real good parent would say that, right?  Even to their adult children???  sigh.

World Art Day - Art appreciation all over the world, I guess.  I know this belongs under the music appreciation more than art, but music is art too, right?  Anyway - I heard a program on the radio yesterday where they were interviewing someone who was a classical musician, and his fear was that classical music would be lost because the younger generation doesn't like it or isn't familiar with it or doesn't appreciate it.  People will sit and talk about rock music, or pop music or one artist or another, but hardly ever will you find them sitting and talking about Bach or Beethoven or Vivaldi. Hm..  So...appreciate art...no matter what it's form today.  Personally, I listen to classical music all the time, mainly because I hate commercials, but also because I like the music without words.

And last...for food - Glazed spiral ham day!  - makes me feel like it should be a Sunday and have a formal dinner.  lol.  We made a cobbler last night...homemade peaches and white cake mix.  My kids wondered why...all except for the one who reads my blog (which is usually a copy of this) and knew Wednesday was cobbler day.

Well...It's the weekend.  I hope you all have a marvelous time.  Tomorrow is Husband Appreciation Day...so in case you don't tell them often enough, be sure and show them tomorrow.  Personally, mine is amazing and I appreciate him every day!
Enjoy!

Do you like pecans??

I sure do.  If you do, then you'll be thrilled that today is National Pecan Day!!  Just another excuse to eat those yummy sweet nuts.  I like them in just about anything...just saying.

Hope you had a great day yesterday and didn't get too wet.  Today is supposed to be another wet day, which is a reminder that it's April and what is April known for?  "April showers bring May flowers"

Celebrate Teen Literature Day - Yeah!  I guess librarians would say celebrate anything that encourages teens to read.  I just wonder how good some books are...like the Twilight series - ugh.  Sorry, never could get into them, the main character was such a whiner...  The Harry Potter series was excellent...not sure they started out as teen literature, but since the main character goes through his teenage years in it, then I guess it would count.  What was your favorite book as a teen?  I remember reading Go Ask Alice...and 1984...and then LOTS of romance, lol.  I don't think they had quite the selection for YA that they do now.  I mean, Richard Paul Evans hadn't started writing yet!

Dictionary Day - this would be my sons favorite day.  I'll have to tell him.  You see...he dreams of owning the largest dictionary he can find...which currently my sister has in her home.  He talks about it all the time, and how he can find Greek names and stuff in there that he can't in the other ones.  sigh.  He's really big into mythology...particularly Greek.  He has a blog that he puts names and their meanings on.  A couple of his entries has had thousands of views.  Too bad he doesn't make any money off of it...  Did I mention he's Autistic?  He'll talk your ear off about the subject if he thinks you're willing to listen...One look at his blog and you'll understand that whole statement...sigh.

International Moment of Laughter Day - I like this one!!  Everyone needs a moment to laugh.  Laughter is the best medicine, right?  It can make the darkest day seem lighter, and the hardest times easier.  I think it can change you're whole look on something.  One of the things that attracted me to my husband is that he can almost always make me laugh.  He's awesome...just saying.  Anyway - Here's one of my favorite clips that I can NOT keep from laughing at...

National Dolphin Day - And everyone loves dolphins.  Remember Flipper?    I don't know...I don't remember it being that cheesey...  oh boy.  I think  Dolphin Tale is better. At least I think movies with Harry Connick Jr and Ashley Judd are pretty good...lol.

Well...have a good one!!  :)

Wednesday, April 13, 2016

I'm sooo glad it's Wednesday!

How about you?  I don't know why...and this month is going crazy fast...but oh well.  Wednesday!!  It rocks.  :)

Anyway - Yesterday I missed the chance to tell you it was Grilled Cheese Sandwich day!  How many of you love them with tomato soup??  I tell ya, that's the best combination.  &#X1f60a

Well...today there is just a couple of fun items from the annals of brownielocks and the Nibble...

National Bookmobile Day - bookmobiles!!  Who remembers those?  I'm sure there are lots of todays kids that have no idea what they are...or why anyone would want them with kindles and other such mobile books.  Well, I remember when the bookmobile would come around my neighborhood!!  I would check out like 10 books and go through them the same day and wait for it to come back again.  Then they built a library across the street from the school, and didn't need a bookmobile anymore.  That was an exciting day, let me tell you.  &#X1f60a  sigh.  Do they even still have them?

Scrabble Day Scrabble!!  fun game...crazy though.  We learned a version called speed scrabble.  Ever play that??  I love it!!  I'd rather play it than regular scrabble.  My kids are pretty good at the big words in that one though...masters.

Thomas Jefferson Day - Thomas Jefferson's birthday!  Everyone should celebrate a man that did a great deal for our country.

And last...National Peach Cobbler day!  Oh yes!  Everyone loves cobbler!  And everyone has had peach cobbler at some point, right?  with ice cream...yum.  sigh.  Don't know that I'll have time to make any tonight, but we'll see.

Have a great day!!

Monday, April 11, 2016

It's Monday and I get to party!!!

It's Monday!  And that's a good thing...it's a new week, feeling more like spring...and I get to see my granddaughter today that I haven't seen since she was 2, (she's 5!) so we're excited!!!  &#X1f60a
Hope you all had a great weekend.

Don't have a lot of time this morning, so I'll not be as verbose as I tend to be, lol.  There are a couple of fun things to share today...

Barbershop Quartet Day - kind of fun if you like barbershop quartets.  My favorites are the ones from the Music Man...fun stuff.

International "Louie Louie" Day - I don't know why this would be an international day, but who cares.  Have fun with memories (for those of you who remember the original song...lol)

National Pet Day - does that mean we have to be kind to our pets or can't dream of killing them in the middle of the night when they start barking??  oh well...I'm really just not a dog person.  Cats don't usually wake you up in the middle of the night...(unless they're my sons cat who sleeps on his face...)

National Teach Children To Save Day - this would be good...hopefully more of you are better at this than we were.  We're still trying to teach our adult children to SAVE....sigh.

Submarine Day
- Apparently on this day in 1900, the first modern commissioned submarine was done.  Those kidos who liked Jules Vernes 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea would very much appreciate that!! &#X1f60a

and finally...National Cheese fondue Day...which if we hadn't already planned dinner, we would sooo be having because my family LOVES fondue.  sigh.  It's like a feeding frenzy...

Well...everyone have a great day!!

Friday, April 08, 2016

It's Friday!!! Yeah!!

I'm not excited or anything...honest.   :)  But I am.  It's been a LONG crazy week, I tell ya.  And there are only what....7 more till summer???

sigh.

Just a couple of fun things today...

Draw A Bird Day - I don't know about you, but birds aren't exactly the easiest to draw, though you'd think they'd be easy.  I guess they are easier than a dog or cat...but still.  Unless they sit still for you...lol  Here's one I painted for the county fair last year...

And...National Empanada Day - Yum!  I think it's a splendid idea to make these.  Just another way to have a turnover, right?  lol.  Although, the first thing that comes up is beef empanadas...so I guess meat pies are okay - but I've seen these mostly as a fruit pie type thing.  Which way do you like them best??  Whichever way, they're good.

Have a great weekend!

Tuesday, April 05, 2016

It's finally feeling like spring!!

We just ended our spring break...and it was too short.  I know, I know, what do I want, summer?  YES!  Isn't that pathetic??  And I like my job!!  I can't imagine how I'd be feeling if I hated what I was doing...counting down the days, probably.  Hours....weeks...lol.
Oh well...I didn't get a whole lot accomplished, but it was nice!  &#X1f60a  I read a couple of books...played with my granddaughters, joined twitter (why???) got some laundry done, lol.  It was good.

Today is one of the best days.
National Deep Dish Pizza Day!!  I love deep dish pizza.  It has to be like the BEST invention ever of the pizza world.  Which type is your favorite?  Do you like deep dish or that thin crust stuff that you have to hold with two hands?  lol  And the toppings!!  I used to like ham and pineapple...no more...ugh.  Pepperoni and pineapple, now that's awesome!  &#X1f60a

Read A Road Map Day -
who knows how to read a map anymore?  I think everyone is so used to google maps that they've forgotten there was the paper thing before that happened.  Those of us who have been in different locals for any length of time got pretty good at reading maps.  When I was on my mission in Oregon, I had two companions that had their own cars, so I was the navigator.  I got pretty good at reading those maps!!  I wonder about todays missionaries, lol.  It would be a good family activity to have everyone load up and take a road trip having to read a map!!  Road trip...road trip...road trip...oh wait, we just had spring break, right?  dang it.  &#X1f60a

Anyway - hope everyone has an awesome day!

Wow... really??

so - I didn't realize it has been that long since my last post.  I think I kind of gave up on it, knowing I don't have many follower...
