Friday at last!

 Okay - I've noticed that I like to use the exclamation point a LOT.  I guess I like to emphasis things, or words, or whatever, but since you can't see my hands waving, or hear the emphatic emotion in my voice, you have to see it with punctuation.  :)  What can I say...  I'm a writer and I try to give words life.

Anyway, we all survived!  Isn't it funny how a week seems extra long when it's a normal five day work week??  We are such crazy beings.  A week is still just seven days, most of us just happen to work at a job five of those seven.  I've often wondered what it would be like to have our weekends be in the middle of the week...  would we redo calendars so that Wednesday and Thursday were at the end?  Interesting thought...

So...today is Have Fun at Work day.  I like that...I try to have fun everyday, but I feel this gives me an extra excuse.  🙂  What would you do to have fun?  Tell co-workers corny jokes?  Have a dance party during lunch?  Watch silly cat videos between zoom meetings?
I guess the thing that makes it the most fun for me is listening to fun music.  Have you heard the new one by the Piano Guys?  It's not as catchy as 'Okay', but it's still fun.
I think there should be hopscotch competition... though I wonder if I can still do hopscotch... 😳
Give everyone a fun nickname and see if you can remember them next time you see them.  😋  course...that's probably more of an old age brain strengthening trick, lol.
Anyway - lets have some fun today!!!  You're awesome, you made it to another day!!

It's also National Puzzle Day.  I think I've already mentioned the store in West Yellowstone that puts puzzles together every winter...  I wonder what their count is so far this year?  I also have a couple of neighbors that like to do puzzles.  I think she's done 20 so far this past couple months.  I don't know, I think I'd go cross eyed after two...  We always do them during family vacations at my sisters cabin-no grandkids to lose pieces, you know?  I have discovered that I have to REALLY like the picture of the finished product or if it gets too hard to find pieces I tend to stop doing it.  I guess in some things, the harder it is, the more motivation there needs to be...

As for food - it's National Corn Chip day.  Now, if you like Fritos, which as far as I know is the only real corn chip available, it's your day to go buy bags and bags and share.  I don't eat them very often because they are a little more salt than I care for.  I think it's interesting that the guy who bought the invention, perfected them and became the household name of Fritos, was a non meat eater and believed in eating raw foods and fasting.  I don't Fritos would be one of those raw foods thing... lol.

I think it would be a good day to kick back and relax, listen to some fun music, maybe do a puzzle with friends and family...maybe make some doughnuts and have hot cocoa...  or have some Fritos and salsa and play a rousing game of Klondike Rummy.  Whatever you end up doing this weekend, hope you have a great one.  You deserve it!!
Here's another fun song to dance to...

Here's one more...have you seen the dance off between the father and daughter?  It became viral during the initial wave of Covid.  It's awesome... He totally wins!!

Have a fun day at work.  Maybe you can surprise a co-worker with a karaoke competition.  lol
here's another song to leave you with...

It's Monday!

 And that means it's a whole new week of fun and adventure - right?  Hope you all had a great weekend.  It's also the last week of January.  Crazy how fast it went.  Did you all enjoy the snow storm over the weekend?  Some people got more than others... that's just so not fair.  ðŸ˜‹  At least we got enough that my grandkids will be able to sled on their favorite patch of hill in our backyard for a bit.  I think they've already killed the grass there...

Not only is it the last Monday of January, but it's also Robert Burns birthday.  If you're a poet aficionado, then you're aware who he is.  I've heard that in Scotland they hold Burns Night, (kind of like our thanksgiving) and have a big meal and celebrate friends and family.  They eat all things Scottish...(including haggis if so inclined - not sure I ever want to try that) and stuff.  I'm not really into poetry, though I have heard of the man.  Did you know he wrote Auld Lang Syne??  I wasn't aware of that till today.  Here is one of his poems, apparently one that's his most remembered.

My Love is Like a Red Red Rose

My luve is like a red red rose
That’s newly sprung in june;
O my Luve's like the melodie
That’s sweetly play'd in tune;

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry;

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only Luve
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho’ it were ten thousand mile.

okay - now you've had your literary nugget for the day... (also I guess Pat Boone sang it in Journey to the Center of the Earth...)

it's also Bubble Wrap Day.  Every year on this day I search the internet in vain for a clip of the scene in Mr. Magoriums Wonder Emporium where his manager brings a roll of bubble wrap and lays it out in a park for him to dance on.  For some reason no one has a clip of that, and it drives me crazy.  If you haven't seen the movie, it's really cute, love Dustin Hoffman, Natalie Portman and Justin Bateman.  It's definitely about magic and simple fun.

Also - today is national Irish Coffee day.  For those of you who enjoy the beverage...have fun.  Here's a clip from one of my favorite movies- Yours Mine and Ours, the original with Henry Fonda and Lucile Ball, where they are drinking Irish Coffee in an extremely crowded bar in San Francisco.

Well, here's hoping you have an awesome week!!  Keep smiling.

It's Wednesday!

 Happy middle of the week... lol.  Wednesday's seem to be middle of the road days...  They don't have the rap that Monday does, and Tuesday is kind of one of those days you just live through...Wednesday starts to give you hope that the weekend is in sight...Thursday is Friday Eve...and then you have Friday.  Funny how the human mind works.  Well, at least the one that works a five day week, lol.  How do you view your days?

It was nice to have a long weekend.  Hope you had a relaxing time.  We actually got some reorganizing done, which was nice.  I didn't get as much cleaning or other organizing done, but hey, we take what we can, right?

Today there are a couple of things that I thought it would be fun to share...

First, it's Penguin Awareness Day - I thought it would be good because Penguins always seem to make people smile.  I like how there are so many different types.  Here's a clip of silliness...

and - from the movie Surfs Up, one my favorite Jeff Bridges movies, lol

It's also National Cheese Lovers Day, National Butterscotch Day and National Granola Bar day.  Of the three of those, I'd go with cheese lovers and butterscotch.  Not a big fan of granola bars, they are either too hard, or too sugary, ugh.

Cheese lover is definitely my family's moto, I think.  One of my daughters doesn't think it's possible for such thing as too much cheese (trust me, there is) and I have a son that will eat the processed cheese on sandwiches...  UGH.  Personally, I love Bree, and Havarti - YUM - and fondue.  We might have to do fondue for dinner...., thought has merit.

What is your favorite cheese or way of eating it??   This is one of my favorite scenes from Julie and Julia... cheese!  (and then butter, lol)

So - hope you have a wonderful day!!

Greetings to the new year! Warning...starts political...

I think it's funny that my last post was on a Wednesday.  Interesting how things happen, right?  So, I've been avoiding posting because I was worried my posts might get a little political.  Now that I think about it, I don't know why.  I guess if I offend the few of you who read, you'll stop reading and voila, no more blog, lol.

However- that being said, with all the stuff that's gone on since the new year, I have to admit that I feel very alone in my point of view.  I don't know why I am seeing things so differently from the mainstream media (which, lets face it, is not very trustworthy) but I am.

I don't get why we have to impeach a president that only has a week left in office.  I mean, really??  What are they afraid he's going to do in that short time, start a war??  Not likely.  I have read the transcript of the speech he gave before the 'riot' at the capitol building, and he did not incite them to riot.  He suggested that everyone walk there peacefully and show appreciation for the process.  Appreciation that there were people who wanted to challenge the status quo, and investigate the process.  These people have never respected the man, have been trying to impeach him from day one - and lets face it, the office of the president of the United States hasn't been respected by a long time by many people.  It makes me so sad.  Personally, I think he's done some good things.  And don't get me wrong - I don't think much of him as a person, I've never liked him.  But I think he did good as a president, and I'm worried for what the future brings.  That being said - I know that if we have hope in the Savior, it doesn't matter what happens, we know who is going to win at the end.

So - I've said my piece.  What I have to say will never reach the ears of anyone who can make a difference anyway, but at least I've said it.  If some Big Brother is watching for key words, then this post might get taken down, even if I don't mention any names or what I believe were key phrases by everyone, lol.  Guess we'll see.

Anyway - welcome to January 2021.  Has it been everything you'd hoped it would be?  Been same ol, same ol for us.  I'm a bit worried about the moisture level of our state, haven't had much snow this year so far, and that's not good.  And then states like Texas are getting snow, and it's just not fair.  My daughter is in Japan, and the central provinces there had over 70 inches of snow in a storm this week.  We could use some of that!!!  lol

Anyway - a couple of things that I thought I'd share to make you smile.  My hubby found this comedy group that did a couple short videos about business meetings and such, and I thought you'd all appreciate them.  Especially this one...the math teachers I know would just come unglued...
Today is also Make Your Dream Come True day.  So...  do you have a dream?  What needs to happen to make it come true?
It's funny because I was just thinking of this yesterday.  I was contemplating what I've done in my life that I wanted to do when I was a teenager.  I wanted to be a writer - check.  I wanted to be published - check.  I wanted to get married - check. (I know, small dreams, but hey, that's what I wanted) There wasn't much past that, lol.  I don't know that I ever had some big dream, other than religious desires.  😊😇   What about you?  Today might be a good day to contemplate your dreams and what it would take to realize them.

It's also Public Radio Broadcasting Day.  And that's kind of a big deal, when you think about it.  So many people don't realize the importance of the radio and the freedom it has given us to express ourselves and communicate with the nation.  People seem to think it's going to go away in this modern age of streaming, but I don't think so.  I listen to the radio all the time (hey, classical 89 is a thing!).  And, remember Independence Day?  Don't want to be caught having to face aliens without a radio backup.  😋

It's supposedly National Peach Melba day... which doesn't really appeal to me.  I'm thinking lets just have some peach cobbler...or forget that, I still need to make some cookies.  Have you had Peach Melba?  I'd be interested to know your take on it.

So - there ya go.  Keep smiling, working, and moving on.  You're all awesome!
Leaving you with one of my favorite pieces of music...
😊

Wow... really??

so - I didn't realize it has been that long since my last post.  I think I kind of gave up on it, knowing I don't have many follower...
