Well, it's another week. Hope you had a good weekend - ours was crazy busy and I feel like I need a day to recoup from it!!! sigh. How about you? Well, there isn't much to shout about otherwise, but a couple of things might brighten your day...
International
Dance Day - well, if you are into dance, you probably already know that this day was founded to put dance in the awareness of governments and society at large to encourage the arts. I like the idea of just having a day of dance, don't you? A school I was at this morning was trying to play some music before school started for the teachers. (kind of in conjunction with teacher appreciate week, huh? no - it was for a morale lifter!) and they couldn't get the sound system to work right. Well... here's to teachers everywhere and dance the world over!!
and one of my favorite Kevin Bacon movies... :)
If those don't get you dancing, I'm worried...
"Peace" Rose Day - I guess this is kind of a day dedicated to peace, but I love roses, so I think this rose is gorgeous. There's something about the mixture of colors, the blending of the pinks and yellow...it's breathtaking. :)
World Wish Day - I guess we are all wishing on a star tonight. I don't know that wishing does much for you...I think prayer and hard work do more, but it's nice to think about. I love this song by Rick Astley - it makes me want to wish on a star. :)
Zipper Day - Have you ever thought where we would be without the zipper??? I can't imagine having to button everything up. I know sometimes the zipper gets stuck on things, wears out and can be a pain sometimes, but for the most part, it's awesome!! I love this bit by comedian Michael McIntyre - it's sooo on it! Zipping up a kids coat....
National Shrimp Scampi Day! - and last, one of my favorite things...shrimp scampi! I think the first time I had this I was amazed. I love shrimp anyway, but I've discovered that I pretty much like it in about everything. And cooked about every way. Fried, baked, grilled...oh don't even get me started on deep fried. My son bought a deep fryer and went through a stage where he had to deep fry everything. We managed to convince him there was no need, we were good (we've never really been one for deep fried foods) But he did shrimp...and that was sooo good!! my mouth's watering just thinking about it. sigh. Anyway - enjoy some shrimp scampi tonight!! Or ...whatever you can afford. Some of us don't have shrimp in the freezer, lol.
Have a great day!!
I'm a grandma, wife, mother, crazy writer, spaz artist and face painter who is a disciple of Christ, loves to cook and read and wishes there were more hours in the day...oh and dark chocolate lover!

It's Wednesday...and not raining! :)
Greetings my friends! It feels definitely springy today! Although I still had frost on my windshield...ugh. I really miss my garage some days. Anyway - it's been a little bit of wet week for us, and so today's sunshine is especially welcome!! It's not quite break out the shorts and sandals weather, but pretty close. I finally got out my summer clothes and switched them out! (I know...the Japaneese organization lady where you only keep what brings you joy? She says you shouldn't bother with switching wardrobes, she keeps buying more new clothes. Well, I tell you, in my opinion? It's like having a whole new wardrobe without having to buy the clothes!!! I love switching out my winter for summer and visa versa. do you?) So that was good... Anyway, just a few things for fun today. Hopefully something makes you smile.
*Blah! Blah! Blah! Day - I'm not sure what this is supposed to be celebrating, but I'm thinking it's Dracula in Hotel Transelvania 2, where he keeps saying "I don't say Blah, Blah, Blah!" If you know of it's origins, share it. I don't have time to look into it right now, lol. but I will share the clip...
Ford Mustang Day- well, just about everyone loves the mustang. My sons drool over them almost as much as a camaro, but not quite. My brothers had a blue one that got passed down to a second generation - I got my first speeding ticket in it. What a memory, lol. We're driving back from surf n swim and my sister (the one that's now a lawyer by the way...) dares me to go faster. I mean really, I was 19, you'd think I'd have been smarter! The poor cop in the opposite lane about had a heart attack...he flipped on his lights and died right there in the lane. We got pulled over about 5 minutes later... sigh. Do you have any mustang stories?
International Haiku Poetry Day - I don't see the fascination with different types of poetry. To me, it's a poem if it rhymes. I know, I know, and I call myself a writer. But really...some of the poetry styles stymie me. Of course the Haiku comes from Japan, and they like to make things complicated and claim it's simple at the same time... here's a good page that goes over it... If I had an inventive brain this morning I'd try and come up with one, but it's blank. Anyone else want to share?
Nothing Like A Dame Day - of course we all think of South Pacific when we hear this phrase Now a days, this would never had been made. Women the world over would probably have emotional break downs and protest the film makers, etc. sigh. But it did have some fun songs, and this was one of the crazy ones. :)
National Cheese Ball Day - do you like a good cheese ball?? I love some of the ones at Smiths. They have a great onion one...I make them once in a while, but sometimes I just like regular cheese, lol. Which is your favorite kind? Today would be a good day to have a picnic outside with a cheese ball and crackers, right??
healthy kids day - well, I guess this is important, especially if you happen to be a parent or a teacher, lol. You always want that healthy kid!! But what makes a healthy kid?? A healthy lifestyle, and some thought and effort. But part of healthy kidlets are letting them be outside in the sunshine!!! :) Today is the day for that.
Well, hope you have an awesome one... you deserve it!

Happy Thursday!
Well... greetings all. It's been a week...almost over! For some reason this has been a crazy week, but the weekend doesn't look like it will be much calmer...sigh. Hope you have a great time ahead!! There's a couple of fun things I wanted to share for today...hope you enjoy them as much as I do:
Barbershop Quartet Day - I always think of this movie when I think of barbershop quartets. Don't you love how he pulls them all together and totally makes them forget their beef? What a smooth talker... but what a great quartet!! he sure had a musical ear...
Celebrate Teen Literature Day - so what is teen literature?? When I was a teen, it was Go Ask Alice, and other dark subjects. There was always fantasy, but I hadn't discovered it till I moved to Utah. Then it was all the wonderful world of Pern and it's dragons, the White Gold Weilder and others. Do you have a favorite book from your teens? I think now it's all the dystopian novels... Like Divergent and Hunger Games... kind of back to dark. sigh.
International "Louie Louie" Day - so, don't know why this is an international day, and not sure if this is the version that's supposed to be honored, (lol) but it's the song I grew up with. How about you? Remember Paul Revere and the Raiders???
National Pet Day - yeah pets! I am kind of torn on this subject, but it also reminds me of the movie 28 Days. If you can keep a pet alive for a year, then you are probably ready for a relationship. I think owning a pet helps you live outside of yourself and makes you think of others. Those pets depend on you for food, water, exercise, etc. It's almost like having a child, lol. I do like cats better than dogs, you don't have to walk them... :)
This is one of my favorite cats... lol
National Pie Day - Okay - so real pie, not the math pie. It's pie day!!! everyone loves pie! Which flavor is your favorite? I won't post Knight and Day again, I think I've done that a few too many times. :)
Submarine Day - I think submarines are kind of cool...and crazy at the same time. I'm not sure I could live on one for as long as these guys do. There are some great submarine movies out there...U571, Hunt for Red October... got to always love Sean Connery.
National Cheese Fondue Day - one of my favorite things!!! ( I know, I have a lot of favorite things...) my kids love fondue. We sit around the table and dip potatoes and bread and veggies into the lovely cheese sauce and unfortunately, quote movies. I mean, isn't that how everyone else carries on a conversation??
Well... hope you have an awesome day. I'm going to be face painting tonight...sigh. So probably no fondue for me. Hope you get some good stuff!!

And it's April! What a week....
Well, we're back, and it's been quite a week. We went to visit our son in Minnesota. Oh boy... He's not one for sight seeing - he took us to hardware stores. :) One store we are thinking really needs to come to Utah... Menard's. Have you heard of it?? It's amazing...kind of like a mix of Home Depot and Walmart - (without food or clothes). Wonder if they deliver? :)
It was good to see him, his little studio apartment and stuff. The weather was okay the day we spent with him, but it snowed the whole drive across South Dakota and then when we left it rained the whole way back to Rapid City. sigh... So we don't have much of a perception of South Dakota other than the clouds and excess water - there was sooo much water!! We were told not to venture into Nebraska, so we didn't. It was kind of crazy to drive through Wyoming and have it be drier. There was lots of snow fields, but no standing water like there had been in the other two states. And then when we got home it was green! It was really nice. The only problem is that we don't really feel rested, having been on the road every day, lol. But yesterday was nice and relaxing and so we're ready to get back to it!!
I wish I could tell you there was all sorts of fun things to look forward to today, but there isn't. The only thing worth mentioning was it's National Empanada day - which are basically anything from savory to sweet pockets that are usually fried. The other thing was Draw a Bird day. For those of you who love birds, this should be fun. I was reminded I need to get the hummingbird feeders out and filled for our little friends to come eat!
That's the only thing about going away for the week - we have so much work to do in the yard now. Is that how your days are spent too?
