I'll bet you didn't expect that, did ya? I can't believe it's three months from today!! 😲 When I look at it that way, it freaks me out.
So...happy Tuesday! lol
Math Story Telling Day - I guess for all those who need a reason to use math, this is the day. Stories are the ones that make the most sense. But - I find it difficult to figure out how you'd use algebra in a story problem... lol
National One-Hit Wonder Day - there are so many one hit wonders out there, it's kind of sad. They come up with an amazing hit, and then can't quite seem to do it again. You'd think it was easy, but it's pretty dang hard, if you look at the numbers. What are your favorites? Here's a couple of the one's I remember:
"Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry
"Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" McFadden & Whitehead
"We're Not Gonna Take It” by Twisted Sister
"Cotton Eye Joe" - Rednex
My ALL TIME FAV... we sang this in music class in 6th grade, lol "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum. And it made the Guardians of the Gallaxy mix!
National Tune-up Day - If you need a day to remind you to take care of your car, this is the day!! don't be like my son and burn up your car because you can't remember to change the oil... .sigh...
National Voter Registration Day - BE REGISTERED! You have no right to complain about who is in office in this country if you are not registered to vote and do not vote. Just sayin.
National Woman Road Warrior Day - woman road warrior?? is that a new sport? lol No - apparently it's the day dedicated to the women business travelers who do a lot of travel for work. You know, like the business man is always travelling, well, there are women who do it too. I don't know that I'd like that kind of job. I like just going to my schools. :)
National Lobster Day - now that's my kind of day to celebrate. Of course, I don't eat lobster very much...in fact I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I've had real lobster - but it's yummy when you can afford it and get it. Have a good one with that! Have to share one of my favorite scenes involving lobster...
Well...have a great week! Get that Christmas shopping done...and enjoy this wonderful fall weather!
😏
I'm a grandma, wife, mother, crazy writer, spaz artist and face painter who is a disciple of Christ, loves to cook and read and wishes there were more hours in the day...oh and dark chocolate lover!

It's Friday again...
and yes, I've neglected you this week. sigh. Once again it's been a crazy week, though I have to admit, we actually got to watch a movie this week!! so things are slowing down a little. :)
There isn't a whole lot of exciting stuff today, but it is the day before the fall equinox. I always thought the 21st was the first day of fall...go figure. 😏 one of my co-workers says it's always 'about' the 21st or 22nd...depends on the calendar. sigh.
National Pecan Cookie day - I love pecans! I used to love the little sandys cookies...but now they're too sweet. I don't know that I've ever had a pecan cookie, so I might have to investigate them. What's your favorite recipe? This one looks good...
International Grenache Day - if you're a wine drinker, you'll know what this day is all about. I'm not...so I'll let you enjoy it for me. :)
National Doodle Day - this days is dedicated to the creative mind, I'm sure. Those who have to draw in the corner of their pages while taking notes, or in a boring meeting, or having to wait...we are doodlers, people, and the more bored we are, the more creative we get. My family has a weekly meeting on Sunday night to determine who is doing dinner and dishes each day of the week. This past Sunday I started drawing circles on the bottom of the calendar page and my son was elbowing me. son- Why are you drawing circles on the bottom??? me - because I can! lol Personally, I think it's practice in making circles, which is always good. Do you doodle? Did you know that Charles Schulz was a champion doodler too? Yep. If your artistic, you probably doodle. Some people color, like in those adult coloring books, but most of us doodle.
so, that's it for today. Tomorrow is another great day - hopefully you'll have time to enjoy the wonderful leaves and cool weather!!
Here's a bit of music to help you get through the rest of the day...

Happy Friday!
Well...all of a sudden the week is over!! I don't know what happened to it, other than it was CRAZY. Although, I have to say, my life has pretty much been like that since summer started...so I guess it's not going to end too soon, though the end is in sight! :)
Last night we did a booth at the Stroll Kaysville. We had a different location, and it seemed to go a little better, but I only sold one small print. :( Plenty of people comment on my art, say it's beautiful, yada yada, but no one buys anything. It's pretty discouraging sometimes. Well...we can only go up if we're at the bottom, right?? So - onward and upward!!
There are a few fun things for today - and a whole boatload for tomorrow that I'll share because I know I'm not gonna want to write anything on the first Saturday we don't have anything planned since June!!! :)
Hug Your Boss Day - Well, in today's world, this doesn't go over very well, unless you're female and your boss is female - us women hug all the time. :) But if you can get away without a sexual harrassement suit, it's the day to do it! :)
Live Creative Day - Live, laugh, love! Isn't that creative? have you thought of a creative part to your life? I feel like I'm having to be creative much of my life, so I don't need encouragement for this, but perhaps you do. Creativity helps the brain to live wiser longer, and keeps those debilitating deseases at bay. Be creative, fill your life with joy and color! If you're a teacher, however, you usually are having to be creative every day! :)
National Kreme Filled Donut Day - What a day to celebrate!! I love me a kreme filled doughnut. Gonna have to go visit Bowmans bakery on the way home so everyone can celebrate it. Wish I'd had time to go by last night when they were half price, lol. You all know that their doughnuts are half price after 7, right? ya, that's right. :)
National Eat a Hoagie Day - Well, I glanced through the link the Nibble had with this day, and it's quite the history. Pretty much all the different sandwiches you know about...subway (sub's) grinders, hoagies, they're all the same thing - created to be a sandwich for Italian workers way back when. Go figure. I always figured there was a specific reason they all had different names. The hoagie kind of morphed from the 'hero' sandwich...'cause you had to be a hero to finish off ' lol. Just a bit of trivia...
Saturday - so here's the list for tomorrow...some of them are silly, some a bit less so, but ya know. It's fun!
Big Whopper Liar Day - I guess if you always wanted to tell a big fib, today would be the day you could get away with it. Thing is...if someone finds out, I don't think it would make anyone else very happy...I mean, that's kind of what April Fools is like, right? And no one gets upset at that...but if no one knows it's big liar day...then you're gonna be in hot water... just sayin'.
have to put something from Liar Liar
Felt Hat Day - I don't like felt hats, but if you like getting the ones with your name on it at Disneyland, then this day is for you... lol
Greenpeace Day - I'm sorry, I know I should be more admiring of organizations that want to keep the plant green, but every time I hear about greenpeace I think of Two Weeks Notice and the scene where she's mad because her boyfriend won't come home from his Greenpeace boat... I wanted to post a video clip of her slamming down the stapler as she's talking to George about it and saying, "how can I love him when he's half the world away on his boat?" but the only thing that came up was when he gets her drunk on his boat. So...if you have the movie, go watch it and enjoy. Think of Greenpeace, lol.
International Eat An Apple Day - eat an apple a day, keep the doctor away! Well, I guess this is definitely the day to do it. Everyone enjoy a good apple. It's funny, I don't like to eat them without slicing them up anymore. I guess I don't like getting apple juice all over my face...lol
Locate An Old Friend Day - this is where Facebook comes in real handy! I had two old friends find me on Facebook, and it's been so much fun to reconnect with them! I still can't find a couple that I think of every once in a while, but since the whole world is NOT on Facebook, oh well...
National 8-Track Tape Day - Okay, show of hands (LOL) how many of you remember 8-track tapes?? I used to hate them!! They would always change track in the middle of a song. UGH.
National Cheese Toast Day - good day to celebrate! How about just toasted cheese sandwiches?? I don't know ...but cheese and toast is always good... (It's not on The Nibble site, but Brownielinks liked it)
National Clean Up Day - good thing - clean up everything. The house, the yard, the world, lol. My son does his part...he picks up garbage as he's walking places. We've finally managed to get him no to throw it away in random garbage cans...and sort of got him stopped from going into people's yards to pick up random garbage. Did I tell you about the time he cleaning up the fireworks the neighbor left in front of his house in their PRIVATE driveway and knocked on their door at 7 in the morning to let them know?? sigh. Good thing they like us...
National Gymnastics Day - Gymnastics! I used to LOVE this sport. I still like some of it, but it's changed over the years, and the Olympics has soured it a little for me. No longer can you get a perfect score because of all the hoopla that has happened. Remember when Nadia Comaneci got a perfect score?? Those were amazing days. I love the movie Stick It...it's an awesome statement about the world of gymnastics.
National Linguini Day - pasta - doesn't matter too much what type, though linguini is good. I think my favorite is angel hair... but go ahead and enjoy yourself some pasta tonight! er...tomorrow night. ;)
I know she's not eating linguini, but you can pretend...lol
have a great weekend!!

Did you remember?
I was driving down the road to work listening to the radio, and that's when I realized what day it was. Did you remember? I was sad that I hadn't remembered before that point, but my life has been a little crazy this month.
We watched Flight 93 this time. We have usually watched 911 the documentary or the Twin Towers with Nicholas Cage. But for some reason, Flight 93 seemed more personal this time...and we were more emotional.
It's strange to think that it was 17 years ago...on this very day - Tuesday, September 11th. My granddaughter had not been born yet. She will have no memories of life before that...life without strict airline travel and security measures that drive us all crazy. Life before the long drawn out war against terror. But I hope to help her honor those that died...much as we honor those from Pearl Harbor. Big difference between the two? Most were civilians in the 9/11 attack. Most were military in Pearl Harbor. What makes it worse, do you think?
Yesterday was our granddaughter's birthday. We took her to the fair. It has been a sort of tradition to take her, but unfortunately, she's decided it's only fun if she gets to ride unlimited rides. We had fun looking at the animals though... especially the little piglets. They were so cute!
This past weekend we were up at Peach Days in Brigham City. We've never been before, and had no idea what we were in for. We had been asked to come help with a fundraising effort. We were willing to come and donate our time and a large part of what we earned to their efforts - and discovered it was a foundation for their deceased daughter. Man - what a emotional weekend! Her birthday was the same as our granddaughter! (same day...three years older) Anyway, the Kohl family set up Avery's Dream Foundation and we were very close to Main street and the parade location. Friday night we weren't very busy...
But it was fun, and hubby did lots of balloons! Saturday was a whole different story! My goodness...and once they found out I did unicorns, I did soooo many unicorns. That was Avery's favorite thing, after all. This is their facebook page... They are currently trying to put buddy benches in all the schools in their area.
Anyway - my hubby had fun with the balloons on Saturday too...
It was an honor to serve this family during this difficult time. Peach days was a family tradition with this daughter that died just this past May...and with Monday being her birthday, I don't know how they handled the whole thing. But they were gracious, happy, and kind to everyone - especially us. It was made extra special because their daughter ended up being Peach Queen!
They are in our prayers. And we are hoping to be able to part of their lives at this time every year.
Kindness and service is something that never grows old, and makes it easier to bear the pains and hurts of the past.
I hope you have a wonderful day of remembrance.

Happy Friday!
It's almost the weekend again...and there's so much to do, so much going on...it never ends. I am saying goodbye to my son...not permanently - he's just moving back east. ARGH. I know this is good for him, he needs to get out of the house, I've wanted him out of the house. I just thought it would be closer, ya know??? He's not my baby, and he's been gone before...but still...I think Sunday is going to be hard. sigh.
So...we're going to be at Peach days tonight and tomorrow. ;) Facepainting and balloon twisting - come see us. We're going to be helping with a fund raiser for Avery's Dream Foundation - I'm hoping it's fun and goes good for everyone.
So...some fun stuff to play with today...
Bring Your Manners To Work Day - I would think you'd bring your manners to work everyday, and it's sad that some people need to be reminded of this, lol. But ya know, you run into people all the time that think it's an imposition for you to bother them when they are working...hello?? drive through can be the worst and best in those cases, lol. I always try to be on my best behavior. Who do you find it hardest to behave for? family or friends...
National Attention Deficit Disorder Awareness Day - you mean they have a day to be aware of it? I have six kids that had ADHD... I don't need a day to be aware of it people, I lived the life, lol. I still live with - oh look! A squirrel!
National Lazy Mom's Day - this is what we all wish we could be...and today would be awesome if I didn't have work, an event afterward and a kido leaving...I mean lazy is great when you can do it, lol, right?
'Neither Snow nor Rain" Day - I'm not sure why there's a day for this, but whatever. I'm thinking rain would be good - though it's nice that we don't have it today or tomorrow. We are going to want snow pretty soon, since things are getting drier... when I went by Pineview in the middle of August it was low, but not as low as it has been. We still need water!!
Salami Day - I love salami!! Do you? I like the thin really dry sliced stuff with cheese and crackers. I don't like it on sandwiches or pizza... which kind do you like?
National Acorn Squash day - I love acorn squash when it's cooked right. I wish there were more than one way to really cook it, but baked seems to be about the only way. Do you know any good recipes? I think I've had it plain with butter and brown sugar, and stuffed with sausage and cheese... making my mouth water!!
Yesterday at the farmers market they were doing spaghetti squash pasta for tasting and handing out the recipe. It was sooo good. She claimed you couldn't even tell it was spaghetti squash, but I'm afraid I could still taste it, lol. It was good though...sausage and vegies and spaghetti squash. Good stuff.
and, we were right next to the man doing monster bubbles...it was awesome. I'll leave you with a little video clip of it...

And back it...
had a good weekend - crazy as usual with facepainting and grandkids...lol. But it was good. We had fun facepainting at Hooper's Tomato days. They always have an amazing crowd there.
Anyway - at work we get these wellness emails. Today we got one that said this month is Yoga awareness month. I've heard that yoga is good for you, and I'm afraid I get stuck on the whole down dog position. I hate it...ask my hubby, lol. But this video they shared was just awesome, and wanted to share it with you. Perhaps it might inspire you...
