Hey everyone! It's Thursday and it feels like Friday...think it's all psychological? lol
Well...today is Bugs Bunny day! so we can all munch on carrots and ask everyone what's up. ;)
It's also International Jazz day,
so time to turn on your favorite jazz and relax. I think we could all
use some relaxing time today. ;) You could watch a movie about New
Orleans too...lol
It's also National Honesty day...which
I remember reading sometime last year or so that Salt Lake City was
among one of the more honest cities in the nation, so perhaps we don't
have to work so much at that one. ;) See what the kids think, lol.
So, hope everyone has a marvelous day! The temperature is soooo nice!! Have a great weekend, you all deserve it!!! ;)
I'm a grandma, wife, mother, crazy writer, spaz artist and face painter who is a disciple of Christ, loves to cook and read and wishes there were more hours in the day...oh and dark chocolate lover!

What a Month!!
Hi Gang! Can you believe it's the end of April? I think this month
went by faster than January...crazy! It's the middle of the week, and I
think we definitely need a little pick-me-up!
Today is International Dance Day! Everyone get on your boogie shoes and turn on the tunes. Dance like no one is watching, and wave your arms like you just don't care, lol.
It's International Guide Dogs day. Which is pretty cool...I've seen the dogs in training several times, and they are special dogs. Know anyone that has one? Imagine trusting your life to a dog...I guess there are lots of people doing that though. ;)
Peace Rose Day - One of my favorite colors of roses, I wish I had one growing in my flower bed, but the one I have is close enough. What is your favorite color of rose? I guess I thought it's name was more symbolic than it is. It was created before the start of WWII, and when they thought the plant might be destroyed, they sent cuts to various countries. US was the one that came up with 'peace' as a name. It has since become a little more symbolic, but I had hoped it would have started out a little more than just developing a new strain of rose. ;)
World Wish Day. I guess it's to encourage dreaming, or wishing even if your an adult. I'm not sure. But everyone make a wish and pay it forward! ;)
Zipper day!! One of the BEST inventions, I think anyway. Imagine what life would be like without the zipper?? Purses, diaper bags, coats...the list is endless. I'm definitely grateful for it!
Well, that's the list for today. Hopefully you found something that made you smile, or gave you something you'd like to celebrate for the day.
Have a great one!!

Happy Monday!
Hi everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. We had LOADs of rain!! It was marvelous.
Today will be quick, we've only got two items to celebrate.
First is Babe Ruth Day! Anyone who is into baseball knows who this guy is and you can party hardy in his honor. We ought to all watch The Sandlot, tonight and eat hot dogs. lol ;)
It's also Morse Code day. Apparently today was the day Mr. Morse was born, way back in 1791. I knew it had been around for a while, but no idea that long! Anyway, how many of you know Morse code? Is that a Scout badge requirement? I don't remember my sons having to learn it... It's my son's bday today, so I think I'll send him happy bday in morse, lol. Here's a Morse code translater page that you can play around with. ;)
Hope you all have a great day!

So Many Things...so Little Time!
Okay - so we have lots for today too, and some of it's crazy. ;)
It's English Language day!! Yeah! hurrah for the language that is the most confusing to all on earth...lol. I was listening to a resource teacher the other day explaining the difference between fair and fare...lol, meet and meat. It's fun, let me tell you. But it's my opinion that if you choose to come live in a country where English is the predominant language, you should know how to speak it!! (okay...off the soap box)
It's Movie Theater Day! Everyone go see a movie to night and support the industry that made Bradgelina a house hold name. ;) Actually, I love movies, that's what we predominantly watch in our house, but we can't afford to go to the main theaters, we wait till most of them come to the Kaysville Theater. You can't beat their prices! So, everyone go support our local small town theater that is closed on Sundays. ;) (man, I'm really on one today...and I think predominant is my word for the day or something...)
Take our Sons and Daughters to Work day. I guess this would have been good to know yesterday so you could plan on it if you really wanted to...but I remember when it was a big deal and my husband actually took one of the kids with him to work. Now my kids are all grown and they would find it really BORING, lol.
World Book and Copyright Day. This is apparently a United Nations sponsored thing...to promote books and how they enrich our minds and embower nations, yada yada, and to support those who create them. As a writer, that sounds good to me... ;)
Talk Like Shakespeare Day! Remember talk like a pirate day? Well, now it's talk like Shakespeare. Anyone see The Avengers? Reminds me of the scene where Stark is meeting Thor for the first time and asks him "Dost mother know you are wearing her drapes?" That's the general idea...lol. I think this would be fun in highschool english classes.
Well...that's it for today. ;) There isn't anything for tomorrow, so I hope you all have an awesome day, great Friday and and even better weekend!!
What, dost the shrill ringing of a bell meaneth the changing of the guard? No, it seems to be the release of children to runneth and be free... Truth, the monks doth ring it heartily in this small building, it doth continue to ring. "The bells, the bells!..."

It's Wednesday!!
And there's much to be happy about! ;) I'm just enjoying spring, ya
know? It's fun to get up in the morning and hear the birds chirping. I
don't know what it is about it, but it makes me smile. ;)
Anyway - today is a couple of fun things.
It's Earth Day! Or Mother Earth Day, depends on how you look at it, lol. Aren't we glad we have this earth? I think it's amazing. So we can all go hug a tree today...or is that arbor day? I guess we could just not kill an ant or spider today? Or would that be kind to insects that you hate day? Hmm... Whatever. ;)
It's Global Selfie Earth Day...NASA's spin on earth day, lol...was that a pun? Spin on earth? my hubby would appreciate that one...) I guess they figure the astronauts can take pictures from space, so it's a selfie. sigh.
It's In God We Trust Day!! Which is an interesting thing to celebrate, but I think it's cool there is actually a day that celebrates the words of what's on our money. I mean...aren't we called capitalist by communist countries? So they would think money is our God...am I getting political? I'll stop now...;) Anyway, according to Infoplease.com: “In God We Trust” first appeared on U.S. coins after April 22, 1864, when Congress passed an act authorizing the coinage of a 2-cent piece bearing this motto. Thereafter, Congress extended its use to other coins. On July 30, 1956, it became the national motto.
(which is
Interesting...we have a motto that currently, most Americans (or I should say the press) would have deleted. I mean, how dare we trust in something that not everyone believes in??? sigh.
And then of course - today is Administrative Professionals Day or Secretaries Day! Happy day to us!!
You are all AWESOME! I hope you have a great day.

Greetings! Spring is Back!
I feel stupid saying it's Friday! Every Friday...lol. I know some
people live for TGIF...(Thank GOODNESS it's Friday) but I figure that
also can get old...so, moving on...
Today has a plethora of items to celebrate, so surely we'll find something that will brighten the day and bring a smile to that face!! ;)
Ellis Island Family History Day!
Hey, anyone see the movie Hitch with Will Smith? Remember the disastrous first date his took the girl on to Ellis Island where she saw her great grandfather...The Butcher? That's family history for you...lol. I think my ancestors came through there, but it would take some looking. Family rumors were that great grandfather came over to join his father and jumped ship in the harbor... since we've discovered since that he had an affair with his Sunday School co-teacher and left his wife (my great grandmother) for this other woman...we're not sure how much of the family story is true, lol.
Ford Mustang day - hey, my brother would probably like to know this info. He had a nice 1969 (or so) mustang that he drove in high school. He was one of those 'cool' jocks at school and must have looked REALLY cool in his blue mustang. He didn't will it down to my younger brother though...who thought riding the bus was so NOT cool, lol. What's your favorite car? I grew up thinking Monte Carlos were awesome! ;) (course that might also have been due to the REALLY cute neighbor who owned it...lol )
Nothing Like a Dame Day. Okay, so everyone who's seen South Pacific will appreciate this one. ;) Apparently it's to celebrate the big, brassy female characters in Broadway and Hollywood. It just makes me think of the song. ;) Might have to go home and dig up the old one...the one with Glenn Close just isn't quite the same, lol. Here's a link to some of the original movie songs...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeXvaHZj5tw
And lastly....
Bat Appreciation day. Ugh. Okay - I know bats aren't all bad, not entirely creepy and all that, but I still don't think I'd want them crawling on me. Or flying around me. Or be surrounded by them...
If they were all like Robin Williams character in Fern Gully,
then it wouldn't be so bad, right? But I remember a movie we watched one Halloween called Bats, and it didn't put them in a good light. sigh. But anyway, I'm sure there's good stuff about them... so it would be a good thing to look into with kids or grandkids if you were so inclined. Personally, I think we'll skip this one. ;)
Hope you have an excellent weekend and enjoy what's to be wonderful weather!

Got to Love Spring!!
Yeah...just got to love those late year snows...especially when we didn't really get much during the winter! ;)

Hello my Friends!
There's a movie out called Unitards that is sooo funny (well, better than Napoleon Dynamite, ok?) and there's a kid in there that likes to think he's cool, and every time he sees people he says "Hello my friend!" in a sort of accent.
It never seems to go over very well, but I always thought it was hilarious. I like to say it once in a while and drive my kids crazy. ;)
Anyway...where was I going with this? Well, today's thought!!
I wanted to greet my happy friends!! I figure if you are my friends, you're happy, right? lol ("because I'm happy"...now let the song run through your head. ;)
Anyway - today is International Moment of Laughter day!! I think it's sad that we have to have an international day to celebrate it, laughter should be part of every day! But I'm not the one that makes these days up. ;)
So - tell someone your favorite joke and see if it makes them laugh. ;) I only really know one joke and it's about a teacher in a Harlem type setting, so I don't think I'll elaborate it here...lol people tend to be offended by stuff like that... I'd post one of my favorite comic strips though...(when I have time to read comics) but there's all the copyright laws...sigh. Here's a link to one of them...FBOFW. Why don't you tell me your favorite joke??
It's also National Library Day - which is another awesome thing. I LOVE libraries, and could spend all day long in there, but then, ya know, nothing would EVER get done, and since my kitchen is still pretty much down to the subfloor (I know...kind of reverse progress over the weekend) I would get a riot if I tried that. ;)
Hope you all have a great day!! It's spring, the flowers might be there if the wind doesn't blow them away, and there is only about 6 weeks left of school. What's not to smile about???
right?

It's Friday!
And I'm a little excited, can you tell?? lol I texted my hubby and wanted to send the happy song, but it wouldn't play... :-\ oh well.
I hope you have all had a great week. It was fun to get some actual snow, huh? At least we got lots in the mountains, which we really need. ;)
Well, today we have three items.
First is National Sibling Day. So if you have siblings, give them a call, a hug, or slug them in the arm, which ever way you use to show affection in your family, lol. I happen to have a bushel full of siblings, and I'm thankful for each one of them. ;)
We have Safety Pin Day today. Safety pin day?? I tell you, some people are thankful for the smallest things, or perhaps celebrate the smallest things, lol. But where would we be without safety pins?? They are a lifesaver for mothers...especially back when we used cloth diapers. Oh my...
and lastly - we have Farm Animals Day. While most of us live in relatively suburban locations, there are still lots of farms around with animals, and they are really cute this week! lol. Last weekend was the petting thing up at the Heritage farms in Logan area, and I believe this week it's going on at This is The Place Park. We have neighbors that are selling bunnies...but I don't think they're really farm animals. I'm not sure why we'd celebrate them other than that's where we get our milk, cheese, eggs and meat, right? Well, since I like all of those things, I'll celebrate it!! ;)
So, hope you all have a great weekend! The weather is supposed to be gorgeous and we can all enjoy the spring flowers that are blooming everywhere. I have two red hawthorn threes blooming in my yard right now, the only time of year I like the darn things, lol.
Enjoy!

Welcome to a new week!
Hi everyone! Hope you had a great spring break - depending on
your status, lol. We certainly didn't get everything done we were going
to, but I did get 2 books read, which was a treat for me!!! ;)
Anyway - several items for today.
It's Hostess Twinkie Day! For those of you diehards who have to have the original, I hear it's back so go find your package and eat your preservatives! lol
It's National Student Athlete Day - for those parents who have kids in school sports, my hats off to you. My son being in track last year was a total eye opener. Man, sure you can compete in sports if you can afford the uniform and shoes and... ;)
Charlie the Tuna Day!
Everyone who remembers when they first saw a Charlie Tuna commercial raise your hand! He was awesome. ;)
Tartan Day. Anyone with Scottish ancestry who has a family tartan, I don't think you'll want to wear it to work, but it would be a good day to pull it out and have a family discussion about the family colors. We have two lines in my family, mine, and my hubbies. When my niece married a young man from Scotland, we were worried there might be a fight at the reception, but everyone behaved and the (Mc)Beans didn't wear their family tartan in favor of the grooms family... ;)
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Day.
I didn't even know we had our own day!! Kind of funny. What do we do for our day? Perform acts of service? lol FHE for that one... (and we know all the members in Haiti, Thailand and the Ivory Coast are doing a happy dance!!)
Tater Day. This is specifically sweet potatoes...so I guess if you didn't already have plans for dinner, you could include sweet potatoes in some fashion. Anyone like sweet potato pie?? I don't think it tastes the same as pumpkin...
Are we having fun yet?? So anyway, there ya go. Plenty of reasons to celebrate, though personally, Easter is plenty of reason on it's own. ;)
I hope everyone had a chance to watch the excellent church video church video, it makes me cry every time. ;)
