and almost everyone I know is counting down the days, lol. Next week is our spring break, and it's been long anticipated, let me tell you. :) And the weather is supposed to improve by Saturday, which I'm excited for. Sunshine for Easter Egg Hunt!! Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah...oh... sorry. Got carried away... ;)
Yesterday had a little bit of a shock... Remember how I did some paintings for a friend last year? And she bought two of them? Well...she had them framed, and then she gave one of them back to me. She said she just doesn't have a spot for it after all, and she wants me to put it up with my paintings when I do booths and see if it will sell, or encourage sale of my other work. I'm kind of torn on this...I mean, it's kind of a compliment, and kind of an insult at the same time... 😕 I offered to give her the money back and she refused. I told her that she's my patron now... sigh. Any thoughts?
So, anyway - not lots to mention, but a couple of things...
Barnum & Bailey Day - I'm not sure how I feel about this. I know Greatest Showman has everyone dancing and singing, but the real story is not quite what they are showing. It has part of the story, but he was a showman almost from the day he was born, and a bit of a swindler... I'm not sure I'm thrilled with some of the things he did with his employees. There wasn't the big break up with the singer - they parted amicably, and that wasn't what cost him his fortune. So, perhaps you'll want to just enjoy the movie and the talents of those amazing actors, and put the real story to the side. sometimes that's best... sigh. Here, I'll post my kids favorite version of one of the songs...
and I think the cover medley is awesomel!!
Weed Appreciation Day - I'm not sure what there is to appreciate about weeds. Why would you have weed appreciation day??? The only thing I can think of is that you can teach your kids to pull them...lol
Whole Grain Sampling Day - so - I guess this is to promote use of whole grains and to get you to find one that you like. We use whole grains in pretty much all our foods...so do you? I remember when they were encouraging food storage and everyone had wheat and there was a big fear that if something happened and you actually had to EAT the wheat that no one would be able to handle it. Thank heavens that's no longer the case...I think most of us today could eat wheat with no problem. Well...except those that are gluten free... whole grain not wheat, lol.
Something on a Stick Day - So - quiz time - quick, name what foods you can think of that are served on a stick! Go... corn dogs, bbq chicken strip things, ice cream, yogurt, candy, caramel apples, kabobs, cake balls... hm.. I can't think of anything else. Did you??
Black Forest Cake Day - and last of course, is this favorite of several around the world. I think I told the story of how we watched them make this on a cruise with my hubby's family a while ago. Man, they soaked the cooked cake with rum! We realized at that point that we probably didn't want to try any for desert on the cruise... lol. We usually make it without the rum and like it just fine. I'm not a big fan because I'm not into maraschino cherries, but my hubby likes it. Someone else did the cruise last year and thought to catch it on video...so here's your chance to see it. (I think you'll want to fast forward through it...)
Well, have a great Wednesday!!
I'm a grandma, wife, mother, crazy writer, spaz artist and face painter who is a disciple of Christ, loves to cook and read and wishes there were more hours in the day...oh and dark chocolate lover!

Happy Monday! It's a new week...
and a new day. We had snow! It was awesome, though not as deep as we would have liked. But anyway, now it's starting to clear up and I think it's going to get warmer through the week. I hope it's nice on Saturday. I tell ya, we've had some chilly Easter Egg hunts in our family. It gets pretty chilly on some of those spring mornings....brrr! But anyway - we can hope. It's also conference weekend, and Easter, and man - great weekend ahead!!
but- until then, we have a great week to get through. Today doesn't have much to celebrate, but a couple of fun things:
Legal Assistants Day - these guys definitely deserve a day of their own. They do sooo much work! I think you'd have to really like your job to do this one. It's a LOT of research and reading law books and footwork and stuff. Hat's off to you!!
Live Long And Prosper Day - I think it's safe to say that everyone loved the character Spock in Star Trek. From his stone faced expressions to the quirks of the eyebrows and continual banter with Dr. McCoy, he was awesome.
Make Up Your Own Holiday Day - Well, here ya go - make up your own holiday! I've been sitting in a school next to a SEM class, and the teacher was talking to the students about making up their own society. Their own language, clothing, food, etc. Well, here you go, make up your own holiday! I think it should be ...Eat all your favorite foods day and read the best book . ..no that's too much food and not enough time for the book... Well - I'll be working on it. What are you going to come up with??
Purple Day - Purple used to be my FAVORITE color in the whole world. When I was a kid in California, I actually had a pair of purple cords. I loved them, but it was hard to find things to wear with them... lol. My youngest daughter is a fan of purple. She got to the point that everyone was giving her anything that was remotely shaded purple. She has gotten really tired of lavender... lol. But she still likes purple. Yesterday at church, half the women in the choir showed up in something purple. I totally missed the memo!! I actually don't have much purple clothes right now... it's a little sad. I might have to go shopping.. :)
Spinach Day - Yeah!! anyone remember Popeye the sailor?? What was his favorite food? That's right, everyone with me... "Spinach!" I'm not a fan of canned spinach (which was all he ever ate) but I love the fresh stuff. In green shakes, in salads, in my eggs, in lasagna... the list is endless. I love the stuff. What's your favorite way to eat it? I was going to show a clip - but I guess it's been a LONG time since I've watched the cartoon, and I'd forgotten how violent they are!!! oh boy... not thinking we need any more of that right now. :) Anyway - fun stuff.
Have a great day!

Happy Friday!!
And it's raining, which we need, so it's awesome!! I didn't have work Monday, and whenever that happens, you'd think it was a nicer week, shorter work week, yada yada. But it always seems LONGER!! sigh. Go figure. And I haven't been able to get stuff done!! I come home and we have to run some errand, we take forever to make dinner, we get caught up watching some dumb movie...and then the evenings over and it's time to get to bed. SIGH. I keep thinking I'm going to get better at stuff, and it doesn't happen. I hope I grow up someday, lol...
Anyway, hope your week has been good and that your weekend will be awesome.
Here's some fun stuff for today, hopefully something you'll enjoy.
National Puppy Day - So, if you like dogs, or puppys, today is the day. This day started in 2006, so it's not that old. I think this calls for a Studio C sketch on the Ultimate Silent game... wait for it. :)
National Chia Day - I grew up with Chia pets and stuff, but was never thinking it was food. Now it's a health craze and everyone puts it in their green shakes and stuff. I haven't really gotten into it because it's a bit expensive... but if you use it, what is your favorite way to eat it? I'd be interested in knowing...
National Tamale Day - Interesting day to celebrate. Here's the site where it originated... I grew up with tamales being sold in my neighborhood in California about once or twice a year. We had neighbors on the street behind us that were Mexican, and they would cook up a batch and go around in a little wagon selling them door to door. Now you find them being hawked in parking lots, lol. My son brought home a bag last month that ended up in the freezer - I'll have to tell him to pull them out tonight. I was never a big fan of them, they seemed to be mostly corn dough with some meat. But my hubby introduced me to having them with chili and sour cream on top, and that's pretty tasty. Which kind are your favorite?
Near Miss Day - This is to celebrate how close we almost came to having a LARGE asteroid strike the earth. Kind of like living through Armageddon in real life... I don't know why we'd want to remember the day, lol. We have thousands of asteroids come close to the planet, but I guess because they aren't the size of four football fields or such, then no one worries... Go figure. :)
OK Day - Well, we like this little word, so good day to celebrate, right? And it's been around since 1839, so it's heading to it's 200th birthday, lol. How many times a day do you use this word?? Pretty awesome. I think it calls for a song...
National Chip and Dip Day - I think this is a great day to celebrate!! A suggestion was made to do it in a little different style...use fruit chips or cinnamon sugar chips and dip into something sweet. Personally, that's just another reason for sugar, lol, and since I avoid sugar when I can, that's not going to happen in my house. What is your favorite chip and dip?? Personally I love homemade tortilla chips and guacamole!!
National Melba Toast Day - Okay, so I only mention this one because I remember growing up with this stuff in the house. I always thought it was nasty, but some people really like it. Are you one of them??
and since we're heading into Easter celebration time and all the commercialism surrounding that holiday, lol... I found this great idea for dying eggs naturally!!! Check out the blog, you might find it interesting!
Well, there you have it....not too exciting, but fun. I'll leave you with some dance music to get your feet moving toward that awesome weekend... one of my favs
and a crazy song from Peter Hollens with Hank Smith singing hobbit songs....lol
Anyway, hope your week has been good and that your weekend will be awesome.

A new week... where did the weekend go???
I tell ya, three day weekends are a fantasy. You think you have this whole day to do what you want, and then you create 'the list'. This list is to help you remember to do everything that needs to be done. As a result...your day off tends to be filled with running around trying to be efficient. And then you come to the end of the day and wonder where your free time went??!! sigh. It was an awesome day, I got to sleep in a little, then go shopping with my daughter and then have lunch with hubby. It was the afternoon that got crazy... sigh. The new Studio C was a little on the strange side...
But Relative Race was awesome. Felt like they didn't get as much information in on the contestants as they have in the past, but it was fun. Hope you had a great Monday!!
There are soooo many things she commented on at Brownielocks...I'm not going to cover all of them, but the fun ones. :)
Great American Meat Out Day - The encouragement to go without meat for a day. I think it's great if you are able to encourage others to eat more beans and greens. I manage to sneak one in on my family once in a while, but they are definitely meat-a-sauruses. We have a saying in my family...vegetarians are dinner for the carnivores. sigh.
National Ravioli Day - ravioli!! Who doesn't love stuffed pasta?? My sister always orders the cheese pasta at Olive Garden. Always. I almost always order the alfredo...so I guess we both have our faves. My family will eat ravioli if I serve it, but they don't ask for it. Which is your favorite kind? There is spinach filled, cheese filled, yum!! (this was from the nibble)
International Day of Happiness - Happiness is something we make for ourselves. We were having a discussion in our home last week about the constitution. It says that everyone has the right to the pursuit of happiness. I hope all of you find a reason to be happy today. I think life is pretty good myself... :)
Free Cone Day (Dairy Queen) - Only Vanilla, but hey, free ice cream is free ice cream! So go get yours today on the first day of spring! :)
French Language Day - I'm not sure why this needs to be a day...who says French is the most important language?? I think we should have an English day. Of course, then you have to debate on which type of English. King's English? Australian English? Canadian English? American English... which of course, has accents depending on where you live, lol.
Kiss Your Fiancée Day - sad to think they had to have a day to celebrate this... hurry!! Go kiss your fiancee if you have one. You might not get the chance again!! not.
Proposal Day - And...I wonder how many people wait for this day to propose?? Feels kind of limiting, lol.
Snowman Burning Day - Well, I know lots of people that are totally ready for this to happen. They are sooo tired of winter. Personally, I don't think we've had enough of what we need, but ya know. This is Utah, we're likely to have more snow before April... I feel bad for the East Coast...yet another storm coming their way... 😨
Spring (Vernal Equinox) - Welcome the spring!! If your yard is like mine, you've already had the crocus blooming and the daffodils. My son was worried they would freeze and die in the last snow storm. Nope - they were looking fairly bright yesterday. I love the spring flowers. Especially primroses.
World Storytelling Day - This is always on the spring equinox day, and I'm not sure why, but I guess it doesn't really matter. Storytelling is a great art. I may be a writer, but verbally telling my stories is really hard. I'd rather read someone else's work than try and tell my stories. ugh. So...go to a local library and enjoy storytelling day!!
Won't You Be My Neighbor Day - Mr Rogers Birthday!! Happy bday, everyone's friend! This man was the embodiment of Charity. I thought his tv show was a little on the boring side, but I wasn't a child. My kids liked it. And looking back on it now, I think he had some great stuff.
World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People - I guess this is to boost those who are interested in theater. I think exposure to theater is important, because it helps them realize there is a large world out there, and there is much to learn and see. So, while most of us can't afford to take them often, they should have exposure some of the time. I took my granddaughters to the Nutcracker a couple years ago, in Ogden. It was fun, they liked it, and it wasn't as expensive as Salt Lake. Have you taken your children to plays?
World Sparrow Day - apparently the lowly sparrow is an endangered species. I don't think they've been in my back yard. Despite the abundance of the stupid magpie, we have lots of sparrows. So, perhaps they should come count them...
and just because this sounds like a cool recipe, I thought I'd share:

Happy Friday and Early St Patty's....
Okay - It's finally Friday! I tell ya, yesterday I kept feeling like it was Friday all day long... I had to keep reminding myself that I had to work today. Good grief!
So...there are several things to mention today... Hope you wore green if you work in the school districts because tomorrow being st patty's day, there's like to be some over acheiving kidos who feel it is their duty to pinch anyone not in green, despite the fact that's tomorrow and not today. Just sayin'...
Yesterday was appreciation of the abundance of food day. I thought that was pretty cool - because here in the US, we do have an abundance of food. Do you realize how much of it goes to waste every day?? That stuff could feed third world countries!! I still don't know why they don't give the leftovers from restaurants that gets thrown out to the homeless shelters... I mean, really! Okay - I'll get off my soapbox for the day... lol Onto the other stuff.
Campfire Girls Day - I almost forgot there were Campfire Girls. Girl scouts have pretty much taken center stage, and I'm sure Campfire girls have lost out a bit... I was a bluebird when I was a kid. Apparently Bluebird is campfire and brownies are girl scouts. Have you ever heard of them?
Lips Appreciation Day - I guess you would never think about it unless you DIDN'T have lips...but your lips are pretty cool. They help us say certain sounds, they keep our teeth mostly clean from stuff, and they are an attractive addition to our faces and uh...kissing! ;) But...it always makes me think of Veggie Tales and Larry...
No Selfies Day - a day dedicated to trying to help people break free from the selfi!! Personally, I don't see the fascination. I'm not very good at taking my own picture. I remember watching some baseball game with my hubby, and the commentators had found a group of girls that were at the game (and mind you, the tickets are WAY expensive) that weren't even paying attention to the game, they were all about taking selfies! (turns out it was some sorority group and they claimed they were there for the ice-cream and the selfies!) And it's always the little pout expression (or duck lips), the pursed lips, and tossed hair. What's with that??? Well...anyway - if this is a problem for you, take a break today! The commentators are pretty funny, at one point they wanted to do an intervention.. I'd post a link, but it had tons of adds and stuff. You can look it up if you want. :)
Panda Day - This is to celebrate the Panda. I don't know really what it is, except that they look like huge teddy bears - but everyone loves pandas. They are awfully cute... I thought I'd share a video of what it's like to try and clean up their habitats, lol. It's way fun.
St. Urho's Day - This cracks me up. This is kind of a made up holiday. Here's a link to the official site... but there are a couple of different stories. St Urho is a combination of several people, and mainly to make it so the Finn's could drink the day before the Irish. You decide, lol. I'm not going to step in the middle of that!! Just because both of them are celebrated more here than in their own countries... lol
World Sleep Day - Yes! We need more sleep!! You know that the average person doesn't get enough sleep, I think especially teachers! I know I don't get enough sleep... but yet it's hard to sleep in on the weekends because I'm so used to getting up at 6...sigh. It's a rotten cycle... lol
national artichoke Day - Artichokes are a strange bit of veggie. I grew up with them, my family steamed them and ate them with butter. I always thought they were weird and more work than they were worth. I really didn't like the insides...ugh! slimy...thorny...not a big fan. BUT - I do like them in things. I love spinach artichoke dip, I like artichokes in pasta...so it's not a total hate thing. But, I do think they are odd and I'm not a big fan. Do you like them?? How do you eat them? My hubby's family eats them with Mayo... 😜
and of course - tomorrow is the big green day! I'm wondering if my grandkids are gonna expect anything... I might have to make green cookies with them or something.. green eggs and ham?? :)
one more thing - my kids made sure that I watched it, so I have to share it. Peter Hollens did a cover for Greatest Showman on the This is Me song...with 500 people!! It's awesome...you'll love it if you're a Greatest Showman fan...
Well, however you celebrate your day and weekend, hope you have a great one!!
Will leave you with the Studio C thoughts on holidays...

It's PI day
Or in other words...for most of us it's an excuse to eat anything PIE! :) I wasn't going to post today, thinking you've heard from me every day so far this week, and you know, sometimes it's not always a good thing, lol. People have stuff to do, you know? Like work...
But there was PI day, and then I discovered it was Ask a Question day, and hey, how can I not share this with others??? so... let's see what we have.
First - have to share the sunrise this morning. It was soooo gorgeous, just a hint of pink/red on those clouds... ah.
Anyway - so back to trivia...
International Ask A Question Day - This is important because if you don't ask questions, you don't find out things. You don't get answers and live a life in confusion, lol. Hm....This means I have to post the Studio C video...you know which one I'm talking about...
Potato Chip Day - I don't know why this day was picked as Potato chip day, it doesn't say it was this exact day that they were created, but ya know. There are kind of two stories...one - they were created when a customer kept complaining about soggy, too thick, french fries (or potatoes). And they were created in New York and used to be called Sarasota chips... The production of potato chips were halted during WWII because they were not a necessary food. Aren't you glad that isn't true today?? I say you, because I'm not a big potato chip fan. If have to eat them, they need to have ridges, and they need to be BBQ. Just sayin. What's your favorite kind??
Pi Day (as in the math pie = 3.14159265 etc.) - what's your favorite way to celebrate pi? Pizza or desert? I think both ways are awesome... not that I like math or anything...who needs math to celebrate pi??
or Bake a Pie day (in solidarity, lol) - I don't know why it says in solidarity, but that's what it said. I like the idea of baking a pie...that's a yummy thing. If I made a good pie crust it would be better...isn't that one of the best thing about pies?? the filling is like, well, secondary, lol.
Save a Spider Day - Okay, if you must...save a spider. I know they help kill all the flying obnoxious bugs...but still - I don't like them in my house. My hubby is more kind than I am...he usually takes them outside so they can be free. We had to laugh one time in church: one of our neighbors caught a spider inside and took it outside. Her husband teased her that she had just killed it anyway because it was cold outside and it would freeze... sigh. Just doesn't work either way!! lol
Write Your Story Day - What does it mean to write your story??? It means your life story. You write your personal history. It means start a journal and write about your daily life as well. Your grandchildren will want to read it. They'll think it's amazing that there was life before microwaves and cell phones... I mean it, really! Get those fingers going and type it up - it's much faster than trying to write it with a pen... And if you already do these things, then it means to write that story that's been in your head and needing to come out. Basically - WRITE!
Well...that's the fun stuff for today. Hopefully you have something to look forward to. Have a good one!!

Reuben Sandwich day - and last but not least... the reuben sandwich. Who likes these?? I think you have to really like sauerkraut. This day was picked by Omaha - which (in case you didn't know) was the birthplace of the Reuben. If you like rye bread, roast beef and Russian dressing on your sauerkraut, then you've got the idea. I like rye bread, and I like the idea of it grilled, but I'd rather have a patty melt, thanks. :) Read more at: http://www.thenibble.com/fun/more/facts/holidays-march.Bake a Pie Day (in solidarit

People are crazy...
And I guess since I'm a person, that includes me, lol. But you know, they really do crazy things. I remember watching Over the Hedge and the turtle tells the porcupines that they were becoming just like humans...they hurt others and film it, and think it's funny. My youngest son loves to watch the Funniest Home Videos on Youtube. We were big fans of the show when it was on TV. But it's crazy stuff!! and some of it is soooo painful.
but - we are so excited about Relative Race!! Have you watched the show?? Besides Studio C, (which was a new one last night too - bit on the strange side, sigh) that's the only TV show we watch with great anticipation. We love it. This is the third season, and it's starting out different from last year, and yet still fun. There is a father and son team and two sisters on another team. It's so much fun to see how they handle stuff. It drives me crazy that we have to wait a week in between each day. argh!!
Okay - so, enough of that, I guess. There is lots today, but I'll kind of touch only on what I think is interesting, lol
Donald Duck Day - my father-in-law was a big Donald duck fan and we have one that he bought before he died that quacks when you touch the top of the head. It doesn't look like Donald Duck, but ya know - it's close. We grew up with the cartoons...and I wonder what my grandchildren would think of them - nothing like what they watch now...
Earmuffs Day - well, I guess if you're on the east coast, you definitely want to be wearing earmuffs!! I didn't grow up using these...I always thought they looked weird. When we watch the older movies where the kids are wearing them, I always wonder if they feel like when wearing headphones... heavy. :)
Good Samaritan Involvement Day - This is always good. We all want to be good Samaritans and be involved with our neighbors and neighborhoods. It's where we live...we should care for everyone, right?! Like the Savior says...we should love everyone. We are our brother's keepers.
Ken Day - well, last week was Barbie's bday, I guess Ken has to have his day. Have you looked up the Utah Barbie? We decided there needed to be a Davis county Barbie. I wonder if they have the same thing for the Ken dolls...
National Open An Umbrella Indoors Day - I'm not sure why anyone would think this was a day to celebrate... I don't think it's that big of a deal, I'm not superstitious in anyway - ok, I take that back; I do knock on wood, lol. But other than that, nada. So, hey, go open all the umbrellas and stick them in one room and see how long it takes before someone gets poked in the eye!! Or someone sprains an ankle trying to jump over them... I have seven children, people, I can totally see them having too much fun with a room full of umbrellas... (Okay, yes, about 20 years ago when they were little...they would get irritated now, lol wait, 20 years??? I can't be that old!!!)
Organize Your Home Office Day - Yes! I need this... sad that I need a day to make myself do this, lol. But I even bought new file folders yesterday so that I could get a little more organized. I like fun colored and decorative ones. I hate the plain functional kind... that's so not me, lol.
the food bit is something about a coconut torte. I'm not into coconut, and I don't think anyone I know really has time to make a torte, so sorry - not saying much about that here. :)

It's a new week...
and as usual, it's going to be a great day! I just read the most FUN post ever by StoryMonster...a blog I've followed for several years. She's behind the 30 min fast paint that I like to try once in a while. (she's an awesome graphic artist) Anyway - she just got engaged, and I'm soooo happy for her!!! sigh. The romantic in me is just in heaven. :) She's been looking for a LONG time.
We actually got some yard work done...well, I did while hubby and kids cleaned out the garage and defrosted the freezer that was totally encrusted with ice!! sigh. We really need to get a new one, it's just a bother, ya know?? I mean... a freezer's a freezer... right? And my crocus are coming up! I let my granddaughter pick one that was growing in the grass. Made her whole day.
So... anyway, new week, new day, just a couple of fun stuff...
First - it's Napping Day!! This is always the first Monday following Daylight savings time. UGH. It always messes me up - we'll see how it goes this week. Does it mess you up too??
Fill Our Staplers Day - those of us who depend on staplers, this is always a good day. It's a good thing I don't wait till today to actually do it, but ya know. If you need to do it on a particular day, here ya go!!
Girl Scout Birthday Day - If you're a fan of girl scout cookies, then you might want to celebrate with them. I guess this is like the blue and gold for cub scouts...
And Baked Scallops Day - those of us who are seafood lovers...yes! We had enchiladas on Friday that were crab and shrimp. They were okay, and my grandkids LOVED them when we had leftovers on Saturday. I figure that's always a good sign. :) but baked scallops sound real good...
Anyway - hope you have an awesome day. Life is good!!

Happy Friday...or you've survived the week, lol
I should say I survived the week, right? Don't know about you. Hopefully you had a great week and are looking forward to the weekend.
It's been a crazy week...pack meeting, watching Murder on the Orient Express again, (which is an awesome version of it!! just sayin') grocery shopping and watching Thor Ragnarok. We'll probably finish it tonight. I've actually gotten some editing done, but not a lot of writing or painting. My fingers are totally itching!!!
And just on an amazing side note - I don't know that I've mentioned it, but I had trigger thumb last year about this time. Went to the doctor and got a cortizone shot (ugh!) and it was great until about October, end of November. then it totally went out and hurt soooo bad. My hubby claimed it also had something to do with NaNo, but I'm not sure, lol. :) anyway - one of our retired neighbors had a laser treatment thing that he tried on my thumb in January, and it seemed to help a little...but I was supposed to come every week for about 4 treatments - and then I started getting sick. You know - the month of sickness that was February... and then when I started getting better last week, I noticed that it's totally better. I mean, I can bend it and it doesn't hurt and it doesn't stick!!! A total miracle. Who says miracles are dead?? Not me!! It's awesome!! Had to share! I have been sooo blessed!!!
Anyway - so, onto the day. There are some fun things to note for the day... see which one you like best. :)
Barbie Day - happy bday! She's one year older than I am...sigh. Really?? then I'm not sharing the year here... :) there seems to be never ending controversy regarding Barbie nowadays... Personally, I used to have a Barbie and Ken and another couple dolls, don't know what the names were now. But my foster dad built me cool wooden furniture and I played with them all the time. I didn't care that they were unrealistic bodies, they were just dolls. I think we place entirely too much on the toys and body images...but that's me. Go find a Barbie and play!!
Get Over It Day - got something that's been bugging you?? Tend to fret and stew over things? Today you are encouraged to get over it!!! Take Frozen into your heart and Let It Go!!! You can't do anything about it...you can't change anything (most likely) and you are only in control of you. Let everyone else go... Get over it, my friend - you'll be much happier for it.
Middle Name Pride Day - Okay - so earlier we had unique names day, today we get to be proud of the fact our parents wanted us to have long names. I was named for my mother and I'm somewhat proud of that. We named our youngest daughter after her as well (middle name). On our sons, though, they probably aren't thrilled with their middle names, but such is life. Be proud of who you are!! You're awesome. :)
National Day of Unplugging - find yourself plugged in all the time?? Time to get out of that. Especially if you have kids and they are following your example. There is much to be enjoyed off the plug my friend - the planet is full of amazing beauty and wonderful people. Make new friends...strengthen old ones...live your life full. You never know how long it's going to be.
Panic Day - okay, why would you have get over it day and panic day on the same day??? That's just silly. Of course, depending on where you look, it's today, or it's June 18th. I don't know what the difference is, but I don't think it's a good thing. Why did I even include it in the list? What are people going to think?? Oh no!!
:)
National Crabmeat Day - So...I don't know about you, but I like crabmeat. I'm not a huge fan of it in all forms, but I do like my seafood. So...what is your favorite way of eating it? I'm not really into crabcakes...had too many tuna patties growing up. We usually use crab in pasta salad. I'm always willing to hear new ways of eating it, so if you have a recipe, please share. :)
National Meatball Day - meatballs are awesome!! I love that part in Hancock where the family has meatball night and the things are the size of a softball! Now that's a meatball. How do you make sure it's cooked on the inside?? That's always my first question. We - on the other hand, love turkey meatballs that we get at the store. I'm not into that much labor to make them myself. We have them with spaghetti, and we have them in bbq sauce where you just eat them on a toothpick...you know, party appetizer stuff. What are your favorite meatballs? Have you tried the chicken ones? They're darn expensive...
and so... that's all we have of the silly stuff for the day. I think you need a video clip though...something to get the feet tapping.
first - one of my favorite figure skaters in history and one of my favorite routines, lol
and of course have to have James the Mormon... :)
What's your favorite Friday Playlist?? of course there's always ABBA... lol
We love that part of the Martian where he's trying to find the least disco music...and comes up with Donna Summer. Really??? She's the queen!!
But to have a real flashback... here's one of our favorite music videos... Huey Lewis!!
Have a great weekend. :)

It's Thursday!
The week is almost over! And we're well into March... crazy.
Today is a bunch of women's
stuff. I'm a woman, so I get that, but there comes a point, ya know? I
mean, 50% of the world is men, and 50% women. It's not always about
us...but perhaps that's the me that grew up in a more equal society so I've already benefited, right?
but anyway - I picked the ones that seemed the most fun.
😊
Nametag Day - I don't think we need name tags, we wear badges, so isn't that kind of the same thing? I mean, they even have our photos on them!! lol I think it's to have people see how young we were when we started at our jobs, or how we used to wear our hair, or that we used to have hair, lol.
National Proofreading Day - proofreading!! I think newspapers still need these people. I don't know about you, but I see things all the time that I shake my head at. I'm wondering if they do any proofreading or editing of articles in today's world of fast news... spell check does NOT catch everything! I feel the same way about closed captioning. I would love to have that job, but it drives me crazy when what is being said does NOT match what's coming across the bottom of the screen... Is that just me??
National Peanut Cluster Day - this is one of my favorite candy type items in the world. I love dark chocolate peanut clusters. Of course, anything with nuts...and chocolate... life is good!
National Retro Video Game Day - everyone pull out your pong game and or pac man and have fun! Our family still likes to play Mario carts, but I guess that's not really retro enough. Maybe we'll have to watch Pixels...that's a fun one.
My son says the new movie coming out called Ready Player Number One is based on all the 80's games and movies. I guess that's retro, right? sigh. It's strange to think what was the prime of your life is now considered retro... ugh.
Well... have a great day!!

I'm alive!! sort of...
Having never had pneumonia before, I haven't known how long it takes to get over this. I'm back at work, but I feel it in my lungs... I've had to go to several locations today, and I'm feeling it. I might end up going to bed when I get home... sigh. But on the other hand, it feels good to be out of the house!! My hubby was teasing me that I had cabin fever.
Oreo Cookie Day - I'm not sure why they picked this date, but this is the day to get free candy bar from the company if you happen to be somewhere that they are handing them out... Oreos are only good in milk, as far as I'm concerned. I loved it when they had the fudge dipped ones. My daughter found the small ones that are dipped, but they don't taste the same. Possibly because it's milk chocolate... 😊
anyway - buy a pack and promote commercialism at it's finest... sugar and lard! lol
Unique Names Day - and on behalf of one who has a unique name...all of you have unique names!! they are all particular to you. Just because you might be one of 50,000 Jim's, or Bill's, etc., doesn't mean it's not unique. However... we discovered that my hubby's name isn't as unique as we thought. there's someone within five miles of us who has the same first and last name. So... goes to say. I do have to say that mine is a bit on the unique side... though when you google it, I discovered there is a Navajo Indian with my name that is an artist and makes jewelry. that's pretty cool! Almost makes me wish I was Navajo... 😊
It's also National Frozen Food Day - I don't know why that would be a celebratory thing, but we do love our frozen foods, and it sure makes it easier to keep stuff. So... have a frozen pizza, some ice cream and oreos... life is good, right?
Well... Have an excellent day and great first week of March!!
Tell ya, February was a LONG month...
There
isn't much to celebrate, but hey, it's sun shinny and we had lots of
snow over the weekend. Life is good!!
I do have to say that mine is a bit on the unique side... though when you google it, I discovered there is a Navajo Indian with my name that is an artist and makes jewelry. that's pretty cool! sick....
Have I mentioned how much I hate being sick?? sigh. I've been sick on and off the month of February. It was a good thing I had a weeks worth of sick leave... and I was sick over weekends and long weekends and stuff. This past week I finally went to the dr and they took xrays and everything...
turns out I have early pneumonia.
yeah.
I've never had pneumonia...haven't ever felt like I was carrying a free weight on my chest and having a hard time catching my breath. Feeling like a total wimp.
I kept thinking once I got on the medication I'd get better, it'd be over and I'd go back to normal life.
Hasn't happened yet...
might have to go back to the dr - they said to do so if I wasn't feeling better in a couple of days. UGh.
At least I've gotten some editing done...
we're supposed to get snow... Hope it dumps. :) Need something to cheer me up, lol
